Peter Stefanovic and Sylvia Jeffreys list multimillion-dollar home

TV presenter power couple Peter Stefanovic and Sylvia Jeffreys have listed their Double Bay terrace for sale.

The couple placed their home on the market for $4.5 million, as they start the search for a bigger and better family home for them and their two sons.

The four-bedroom terrace with two-and-a-half bathrooms in Epping Rd is scheduled to go under the hammer on August 22nd with a $4.5m price guide via Oliver Lavers of The Rubinstein Group.

Stefanovic, a co-host of First Edition on Sky News Australia, and Jeffreys, co-host of Today Extra on Channel 9, had bought the home on a 186 sqm block for $2.7m in 2016.

In their seven years at the home, the couple have made a range of improvements including adding off-street parking, and created an impressive outdoor entertainment area with inbuilt seating and barbecue in the rear courtyard.

The impressive property boasts open plan living areas, polished timber floors, marble finishes in the kitchen, and underfloor heating in the bathrooms.

Two master-sized bedrooms open to balconies, alongside a third on the upper floor, and a versatile fourth bedroom could serve as an office.

The couple met in 2014 when they were both colleagues at Channel Nine - she was working on The Today Show while he was a foreign correspondent for Nine News, and they bumped into each other in the station’s carpark.

Two years later in 2016, Stefanovic popped the question in a French vineyard, and they were married the following year in Kangaroo Valley.

The couple have two sons - Oscar, who was born in early 2020 and Henry, who arrived a little more than a year later.

With their sons growing up and needing more space, the family are looking for a bigger home in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.

Paul 'Fatty' Vautin lists multimillion-dollar penthouse

Former footballer Paul ‘Fatty’ Vautin and his wife Kim have listed their penthouse to fuel their dream home build.

The couple first bought the four-bedroom apartment for $1.8 million when it was newly built in 2009.

“We walked in and thought ‘wow’ and then we walked on to the roof terrace, saw the views and thought ‘are you serious?’. We just knew we had to have it,” Mr Vautin said.

“I think we might have overpaid but we didn’t care, we just wanted it and we have lived comfortably here ever since.”

Spread over two floors and accessed via a private lift, the apartment is one of just three in the building and boasts panoramic views from its rooftop terrace that could fit up to 100 people.

Inside, the apartment’s second floor features a cosy lounge area, a bedroom, bathroom, and a servery window connected to the flat’s fully-equipped kitchen.

On the lower level you’ll find the family living spaces, master suite and three bedrooms with balconies.

Even though they bought it more than a decade ago, “renovation queen” Ms Vautin has made sure the home has maintained a modern look that suits its highly sought-after coastal location.

“It is a great apartment but you always need to upgrade to stop spaces looking dated,” she explained. “And we wanted to renovate the rooftop to make it more functional.”

It has been Ms Vautin’s love of renovating that has prompted the couple to sell to fulfil their dream of building their own home.

“Kim always wanted to build a house, so we’ve decided to sell this, bank the money and then take our time to look around for something else,” Mr Vautin said.

“Whether we find an old home, knock it down and rebuild, we don’t care, we just want to have the time and space to do a good job.”

The Vautins are unsure where they’ll live once the penthouse sells, but they have two rental properties they could choose from.

“It’s only going to be a year. We might even go travelling for a while, because we love travelling,” Mr Vautin said.

The home has been listed through Queensland Coast Realty for offers over $4 million.

Images: Getty Images, Queensland Coast Realty

One of Australia's few genuine castles sells for over $5 million

One of Sydney’s rare legitimate castles has been sold, with industry sources claiming its new owners paid between $5.25 million and $5.75 million.

Agent Ben Cohen, of Sydney Sotheby’s International Realty, confirmed that Killarney Castle was sold to a young couple last week, though he would not confirm the final selling price.

The unusual home was inspired by the historic homes in Ireland and built by Irish-born auctioneer Thomas Edward Taylor between 1905 and 1918.

Made of hand-hewn sandstone that was quarried on-site, the castle comes with battlements and a widow's walk/turret tower, as well as leadlight windows, high ceilings, and an ornate staircase.

Despite its traditional appearance, the interiors of the five-bedroom home have been renovated to include modern finishes, such as a new kitchen with timber joinery, a solar swimming pool, air conditioning and heating.

The home also boasts a multi-purpose studio, gym, wine cellar, double garage, games room, potential au pair accommodation, and sandstone balconies overlooking the established gardens.

Mr Cohen said he and his colleague, Mark Goldman, had received an “enormous amount of interest” and issued seven contracts to potential buyers.

“What a phenomenal property - I must say it was a lot of fun selling this property,” Mr Cohen said.

He said buyers had also been surprised by the property during inspections, as “you realise it is a very functional family home”.

Images: Sydney Sotheby’s International Realty

Footy legend sells deluxe home for $9 million

Footy star Shane Crawford and his partner Olivia Anderson have sold their home in Brighton, Victoria, after listing it last month.

The four-bedroom house was listed with a price guide of $9 million to $9.9 million, more than 10 years after the couple bought it for $3.05 million.

Industry sources told realestate.com.au that the final selling price was “in the vicinity of $9 million”.

The property attracted high-end buyers and a “couple of quite excited Hawks supporters” according to Fredman Property Group owner Joel Fredman.

Eventually, a family with three kids looking to upsize from their current Brighton home purchased the property.

Shane and Olivia completely renovated the home before the sale, but still maintained some traditional fittings.

“There’s the richness of the original Victorian period features - the marble fireplaces, the ceiling roses, the lacework, the verandah,” Mr Fredman said.

“The location is also so central to Brighton Grammar, Firbank Grammar and Bay Street. And there’s a reserve around the corner in Middle Crescent, which is a great place for families to be hanging out.”

The family sold the property after purchasing a property in Northern New South Wales last year, with Shane intending to spend more time there with Olivia and their sons Charlie, Ben, Jack, and Harry.

“Covid has brought a lot of change, and the family has made a sea change, so it’s a waste living in such a big house here,” Shane said.

“We have had 12 amazing years there and restored it back to its prime,” Olivia said, adding that the time had come to “pass on our home for another family to enjoy”.

“It’s the childhood home of the four boys, so it’s sad. But times have changed and we are so excited about the next chapter.”

The 1887-property, called the ‘Ellesmere’, was once home to Thomas Wilson, the mayor of Brighton.

Sitting on a 1477-square-metre lot, the property features a 20-metre pool, a tennis court, a gym, and a steam room.

Inside, the home boasts high ceilings, bay windows, and Tasmanian Oak parquetry flooring, as well as modern marble benches, and hydronic in-floor heating.

Listing the property during lockdown also didn’t seem to faze Mr Fredman, who told the Herald Sun he wasn’t worried since it was “the type of property you do wait for”.

“Listing it during lockdown gave me time to get to know the buyers, inform them of the details of the property and qualify them (as legitimate buyers),” he said. “So by the time inspections were allowed, I had everyone booked in for private tours.

“It’s an emotive property (the buyers) could be in for 10-20 years.”

Images: @flatoutmum / Instagram, realestate.com.au
