'Australia's Forrest Gump' reaches major milestone

<p>The man dubbed Australia's Forrest Gump has arrived back Down Under to complete the final leg of a mammoth journey. </p> <p>Tim Franklin has long dreamed of becoming the fastest person to run from one end of the world to the other, and has already completed most of his journey. </p> <p>The 40-year-old has run over 19,000 kilometres through 17 countries across five continents, setting off on his epic adventure in December 2022. </p> <p>With a world record in his sights, has been averaging more than a marathon a day for the past 427 days, as he battled floods, snow, exhaustion and injury on his travels. </p> <p>The worst of his hurdles came when his father was dying, as he decided to pause his journey to come home and say his goodbyes to the man he describes as "my hero, my mentor".</p> <p>"That message he gave me of 'go out and finish that damn run' was the last thing he said to me before he passed away," Franklin told <a href="https://www.9news.com.au/national/australias-forrest-gump-tim-franklin-lands-australia-final-leg-tim-runs-the-world/c3dac7d4-8c71-4fc5-84e2-4fbd2fb5af61" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><em>9News</em></a>.</p> <p>The pause in proceedings knocked him out of world record pace but it didn't derail his dream and only further fuelling the fire for him to achieve his goals. </p> <p>In order to "officially" run around the world, certain kilometres need to completed in each continent.</p> <p>Franklin started his journey in New Zealand, before heading coast to coast across the US, then South America, and across from Spain through Europe to the Black Sea.</p> <p>After a short stint in Asia he decided to head back to Australia, landing in Perth to a surprise greeting from his siblings.</p> <p>Now, it's the beginning of the end as Franklin makes his way from Perth to Brisbane, via Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney.</p> <p>"[I'm] really excited to be back here in Aus for the last leg of my run."</p> <p>When he finally reaches Queensland, his friends and family will be waiting but there's one thing the 40-year-old is looking forward to most.</p> <p>"I just wanna give my mum a hug to be honest," he said.</p> <p><em>Image credits: 9News</em></p>

The Beast marks major weight loss milestone

<p>Mark 'The Beast' Labbett has shared a major weight loss milestone, with his partner Hayley celebrating his ongoing health journey. </p> <p><em>The Chase Australia</em> star has been overhauling his life since 2020, and has been documenting his weight loss on social media. </p> <p>Now, Labbett's girlfriend, English TV presenter Hayley Palmer, has shared a video of the couple working out together, as they have welcomed in the New Year with fresh fitness goals. </p> <p>In the video, Labbett is shown walking on a treadmill, lifting weights and standing on a set of scales, where he weighs in at 124.8kg. </p> <p>Labbett weighed about 185kg at his heaviest, as he has now lost over 60kgs. </p> <p>“I’m so proud of @markthebeastlabbett,” Hayley captioned the workout video.</p> <p>“He started to come to gym with me in the morning, and he is doing so well.”</p> <p>“Wow, unbelievable achievement,” one fan commented, followed by another who said he looks “amazing” and should be proud.</p> <p>“Well done and congrats! I bet you feel much better in yourself and have gained so much more energy, never go backwards!” someone else added</p> <p>“You look strong and confident, keep shining!” a fourth remarked, while a different user called him “a lean mean quizzing machine!”.</p> <p>Mark has previously revealed that he credits his impressive weight loss to regular walks with his Golden Retriever Baloo, eating only two meals a day, and “running around after a hyperactive three-year-old in lockdown”.</p> <p><em>Image credits: ITV / Instagram </em></p>

Chrissie Swan celebrates incredible milestone

<p>Chrissie Swan has marked a big health milestone, taking to Instagram to celebrate her achievement that she doesn't talk about much publicly. </p> <p>The TV presenter revealed that she has been alcohol-free for 1000 days. </p> <p>“I don’t talk much about giving up the booze because it’s such a personal thing and not right for everyone – also I don’t feel comfortable encouraging people to do anything they haven’t arrived at themselves,”  she admitted in her post. </p> <p>She added that after 1000 days she knows "for sure it has been the right thing for me so I’m putting this here for anyone who’s thinking that maybe drinking isn’t fun anymore."</p> <p>"I love love love being able to drive everywhere, leave places whenever I like and especially ESPECIALLY going to bed knowing I’ve been the most authentic version of myself AND waking up excited about another brilliant day," she said. </p> <p>She revealed that she never had a “massive, long standing” problem with alcohol, but had found herself consuming it more during the lockdowns. </p> <p>“I just knew it had to go. It was actually quite easy for me and the positives started within the first week. Mainly – relief. "It feels fabulous": Johanna Griggs on turning 50

Princess Eugenie celebrates milestone anniversary

<p>Princess Eugenie has celebrated her fifth wedding anniversary to Jack Brooksbank with a heart-warming throwback video from the big day. </p> <p>Eugenie and Jack got married at St George's Chapel in Windsor on October 12th 2018, with 3,000 people lining the streets to catch a glimpse of the royal wedding. </p> <p>Now, five years on, the Princess has shared a previously unseen glimpse into their big day, along with a more recent candid family portrait.</p> <p>The sweet snap, which is the first public image of the family-of-four together, showed Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson's daughter with her husband and their two children, two-year-old son August and four-month-old son Ernest, posing on a beach.</p> <p>"5 years ago today...," Eugenie captioned the clip, which was set to the song <em>You’ve Got the Love</em> by Florence and the Machine.</p> <blockquote class="instagram-media" style="background: #FFF; Menu planning for weeks."</p> <p>"Then I would have fallen asleep on Jock’s chest after the party, talking through how it went, if Isla had a good time, did people eat and drink enough, would she remember any of it."</p> <p>Lauren then explained how this year's party looked to their grieving family, explaining, "This year I did a BBQ and the rest of the food was outsourced to my sister and Mark. [Ava Zonfrillo] blew up the balloons. Uber delivered the cake. I cried as I dressed the kids. I fell asleep without Jock."</p> <p>She went on to share how bittersweet the day was, saying, "For Jock to miss these days seems unfair and unbearable, and another of the firsts we are pushing through as a family."</p> <p>Despite their grief, Lauren said their family is slowly starting to heal.</p> <p>"Our little ones are finding joy again, they are being the happy and cheeky children they always were, and I’m grateful that life keeps dragging us forward day by day."</p> <p>Commenters shared their support for the family, with one writing, “Firsts are the hardest, it’s like losing them all over again 😔. Ellen DeGeneres shares throwback snap to mark special milestone

<p dir="ltr">Ellen DeGeneres shared a sweet throwback snap of her August 2008 wedding with Portia de Rossi, to mark a very special milestone for LGBTQIA+ love.</p> <p dir="ltr">The 65-year-old comedian took to Instagram to honour the eight anniversary of the Supreme Court legalising same-sex marriages in the United States.</p> <p dir="ltr">"8 years ago today marks an important moment. It's when the Supreme Court said "yes" to letting everyone feel the same joy I got to feel in this moment," she wrote.</p> <p dir="ltr">Ellen shared a black-and-white snap of her embracing Portia during their 2008 nuptials.</p> <p dir="ltr">It’s been almost 15 years since the pair got married, and they previously celebrated their love in February 2023, when they <a href="https://www.oversixty.com.au/lifestyle/relationships/ellen-degeneres-surprise-wedding-news" target="_blank" rel="noopener">renewed their vows</a> at their California home.</p> <p dir="ltr">Portia even wore the same wedding dress she wore in their 2008 wedding when surprised Ellen with a double celebration - her own birthday party and their vow renewal ceremony.</p> <p dir="ltr">The pair have been head over heels for each other since they first met in the early 2000s, and they continue to choose each other.</p> <p dir="ltr">Many fans took to the comment section to share their love and gratitude towards the couple.</p> <p dir="ltr">“Love you and thanks for all your work for the LGBTQIA community. “Our Disney princess”: Grace Irwin’s magical milestone

<p dir="ltr">Bindi Irwin and her family were all smiles on a recent trip to “the most magical place on Earth”, with some of their favourite highlights documented on social media for their fans to enjoy the occasion right along with them.</p> <p dir="ltr">The day was something of a milestone for two-year-old Grace, who was making her first trip to Disneyland alongside Bindi and Chandler. </p> <p dir="ltr">“Our Disney princess visited the most magical place on Earth for the very first time,” Bindi wrote. “My. Heart.”</p> <p dir="ltr">In the clip accompanying the caption, a series of snaps and short videos played out, though two things remained constant throughout - the delight on their faces, and the wonder on young Grace’s.</p> <p dir="ltr">It opened with a sweet family picture in front of Sleeping Beauty’s Castle, a popular location in the centre of the park for capturing the all-important Disney portrait. </p> <p dir="ltr">Next, Grace had been introduced to a bubble wand in her dad’s arms, before the family were captured flying through the air on Disney’s Dumbo The Flying Elephant ride.</p> <p dir="ltr">From there, Grace was pictured exploring the park - on her own feet and from her mum’s embrace - as well as dancing to live music, meeting some iconic Disney characters, hosting her very own princess tea party, and experiencing the wonder of the world famous It’s a Small World attraction. </p> <p dir="ltr">All, it appears, picture perfect items on any Disneyland agenda. </p> <blockquote class="instagram-media" style="background: #FFF; 90-year-old-with chronic leukaemia skydives for charity

<p>A thrill-seeking 90-year-old has celebrated her birthday - in what some would call an unconventional manner for her age - by skydiving, and raising £5,000 for a homeless charity in the process.</p> <p>Shirley Robinson, from Long Clawson in Leicestershire, jumped out of a plane at 14,000ft for the fundraiser at Skydive Langar in Nottinghamshire.</p> <p>Shirley, who was diagnosed with chronic leukaemia in 2022, raised funds for Crisis, a charity that provides help and support for homeless people.</p> <p>She told <em>BBC News</em>, “It's just wonderful how generous people have been. "40 years ago today": Alan Alda celebrates MASH milestone

<p>Alan Alda has celebrated the 40th anniversary of the iconic <em>M*A*S*H</em> (<em>MASH</em>) season finale. </p> <p>The series, which ran on CBS from 1972 to 1983, totalled an impressive 11 seasons with 251 episodes - all of which Alan Alda appeared in as the memorable Benjamin Franklin 'Hawkeye' Pierce. However, his credits weren’t limited to just acting, with Alda dabbling in some crew work during his time on the show. </p> <p>And it was Alda himself who wrote and directed the series finale, titled ‘Goodbye, Farewell, and Amen’. The episode ran for two-and-a-half hours, set a ratings record that many consider to be near impossible to beat, and reportedly still holds the title of being the most watched scripted television show episode of all time. In the US alone, over 60% of households tuned in to see the lives of the <em>MASH</em> unit change at the end of the Korean War. </p> <p>Now, 40 years after the episode went to air, Alda has looked back on the milestone, taking to Twitter to celebrate. Chrissie Swan's impressive milestone after shedding 90kg

<p>Chrissie Swan has taken to social media to share her impressive sobriety milestone.</p> <p>Having gone over 600 days without alcohol, the TV and radio host revealed it’s been a year and eight months since she gave up the booze in a bid to ease her anxiety.</p> <p>Since giving up alcohol, Chrissie has completely transformed both her lifestyle and health, down 90kg by simply picking up healthy habits – which include daily walks and changing her food choices.</p> <p>“Seem to be getting a lot of messages checking on whether I’ve taken up booze again”, she wrote on Instagram. “I haven’t! 643 since my last tipple! Thanks for asking!” She added.</p> <p>Speaking on The Project in October of 2021, she said she was reliant on alcohol to deal with the stress of the Covid lockdowns.</p> <p>Giving up drinking “was a decision I made for myself after giving it a fair nudge in the first lockdown last year”, she said at the time.</p> <p>Chrissie has <a href="https://www.oversixty.com.au/entertainment/tv/chrissie-swan-s-amazing-lockdown-transformation" target="_blank" rel="noopener">drastically transformed her physique</a> over the last year, citing a new diet, daily walks and sobriety as the secret behind it all.</p> <p>She briefly touched on her weight loss in an interview with The Australian Women's Weekly earlier in the year, saying the lifestyle changes she'd made over the last year had improved her life in so many ways.</p> <p><em>Image: Instagram</em></p>

Meghan Markle shares major milestone for Lilibet

<p>Meghan Markle has shared her daughter Lilibet's latest milestone in the most recent episode of the <em>Archetypes</em> podcast. </p> <p>Speaking with actress Pamela Adlon, the Duchess of Sussex said her days have become "more chaotic" ever since one-year-old Liliet started walking. </p> <p>"Lili has just started walking!" she said proudly. </p> <p>"She's a year and a couple of months old and Archie is just over three years old," Meghan said.</p> <p>"Oh, I'm in the thick of it, toddling."</p> <p>She went on to explain how mornings in the Sussex home are always a "rush", but she relishes in the madness of it all and insists on making breakfast each morning. </p> <p>"I'm sure it'll only get more chaotic as they get older," she said.</p> <p>"For me, it's, you know, both monitors on for the kids to hear them. Always up with Lili, get her downstairs, then a half hour later, Archie's up."</p> <p>"I start doing his lunchbox right before he's up while I have her, getting her a little nibble. My husband's helping me get him downstairs."</p> <p> </p> <p>"I make breakfast for all three of them. It's very important to me. I love doing it - to me, it just feels like the greatest way to start the morning."</p> <p>The Duchess of Sussex admitted it can feel like a "whirlwind" as she feeds their three dogs – Guy, Pula and Mia – and gets Archie off to school but praises Prince Harry for being a "partner" in parenting.</p> <p>As Meghan and her guest spoke about the pressures of motherhood, she said becoming a mother changed her outlook on everything, and how she wants to be a strong role model for her kids.</p> <p>"I first just had Archie, now I'm a mum of a daughter," she said while speaking to Adlon.</p> <p>"And whether I thought it was going to happen or not, it did. I see the world differently through how she is going to see the world and how she is going to look at certain women as role models.</p> <p>"And when I look at a lot of the women that I'm speaking to on this show, you included, I want her to understand that it is not just a box you have to fit into, but you get to be a full-fledged, interesting, curious, kind, strong, all the things, human being. Prince Harry shares major Lilibet milestone

<p>Prince Harry has revealed that 10-month-old Lilibet has taken her first steps. </p> <p>In an exclusive interview with <a href="https://people.com/royals/prince-harry-reveals-lili-took-first-steps/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">People</a>, the Duke of Sussex said his daughter "is trying to keep up with her big brother Archie" and that he is a very "proud papa".</p> <p>While on his trip to The Hague for the Invictus Games, Harry's children are never far from his mind as he said he "can't wait" to one day bring his kids to the Games, and that Archie, who is almost 3-years-old, is already excited at the prospect. </p> <div> <p>"I showed Archie a video of wheelchair basketball and rugby from the Invictus Games in Sydney, and he absolutely loved it," Harry says. </p> </div> <div class="paragraph" style="box-sizing: border-box;"> <div> <p>"I showed him how some were missing legs and explained that some had invisible injuries, too," he continued. "Not because he asked, but because I wanted to tell him. Kids understand so much, and to see it through his eyes was amazing because it's so unfiltered and honest."</p> <p>Since founding the Invictus Games in 2014, Harry's life as changed drastically, mainly with the adventure of fatherhood. </p> <p>"Being a dad certainly adds another emotional layer to it," says Harry. "When I was in the Army, I promised myself I would be out before having a wife and kids, because I couldn't imagine the heartache of being apart for so long during deployment, the risk of possibly getting injured, and the reality that my family's lives could be changed forever if that happened."</p> <p>He adds, "Every member of the Invictus community has experienced varying degrees of these things. I have tremendous respect for what they and their families sacrifice in the name of service."</p> <p>At the opening ceremony of the games on Saturday, he told the crowd of his son's future career aspirations and how he hopes to follow in the footsteps of his father.</p> <div> <p>"When I talk to my son Archie about what he wants to be when he grows up, some days it's an astronaut, other days it's a pilot — a helicopter pilot obviously" Harry said with a laugh.</p> </div> <div> <p>"But what I remind him is that no matter what you want to be when you grow up, it's your character that matters most, and nothing would make his mum and me prouder than to see him have the character of what we see before us today," he continued.</p> <div> <p>"To grow up in a better world," Prince Harry replied. "To grow up in a fairer world, a safer world, a more equal world. It's not going to be easy, but I will never, ever, ever rest until I as a parent have at least tried to make the world a better place for them. Sophie Delezio celebrates huge milestone ahead of new adventure

<p dir="ltr">Sophie Delezio has celebrated her 21st birthday - but reaching the milestone will just be one big moment in a year that’s jam-packed with them for Sophie.</p> <p dir="ltr">Sophie - who suffered severe injuries from two horrific car accidents in the 2000s - spoke to <em>Woman’s Day</em> about the momentous day and what else she has planned this year.</p> <p><span id="docs-internal-guid-928b2d73-7fff-dd6b-0a8a-1204db749cf7"></span></p> <p dir="ltr">“Turning 21 does feel huge,” she told the publication. “I had no idea where I was going to be [at this age], mainly because of my journey.</p> <p dir="ltr"><img src="https://oversixtydev.blob.core.windows.net/media/2022/04/sophie-delezio1.jpg" alt="" width="1280" height="720" /></p> <p dir="ltr">“But I’ve tried to not have too many expectations and just live in the moment.</p> <p dir="ltr">“I’ve got a lot ahead this year and I’m excited to get things started.”</p> <p dir="ltr">Sophie celebrated with her nearest and dearest last month at her parent’s home on Sydney’s North Shore.
