Debate erupts over groom's unconventional footwear choice

In what seems to be a picture perfect wedding, eagle-eyed social media users spotted one odd detail.

The couple were snapped standing at the altar, and while everything else about their outfit seemed flawless, one Reddit user called the groom out for wearing black Crocs and black socks to his wedding.

“Imagine you get ready for three hours and your groom shows up in Crocs,” the user said.

“Crocs would be a legit reason to say no at the altar,” another wrote, before adding: “Crocs are a valid reason to not date someone. They are horrible.”

“He’s wearing a suit, maybe he has a problem with his feet that he can’t wear proper footwear,” a third commented

“Surely no one, no matter how casual in style, voluntarily leaves the house in Crocs?”

However many other social media users were quick to defend the wedding faux pas, with some saying that they wish they had done the same thing at their own weeding.

“He probably has an injured foot or broken toe. He’s perfectly groomed (a pun) otherwise and obviously tried to camouflage his socks and crocs with his attire," one sympathised.

“Ya I have really severe diabetic neuropathy in my feet, especially my toes. Doctor actually suggested Crocs as they have extra space and don’t restrict movement," another added.

“I wore flip flops under my dress. I hate heels with a passion,” a third wrote.

"He's wearing a nice suit, matching dark socks so I'm not seeing an issue here as he probably has some kind of foot or back injury or pain. If I were marrying him this wouldn't bother me," added a fourth.

“Let the man get married in something comfortable. My wife could have shown up in a potato sack barefoot for all I cared, she is there to marry me, not for a fashion show," a fifth defended.

Image: Reddit

Groom faces serious jail time after $89 million "wedding of the century"

A groom whose viral $89 million wedding was dubbed the "wedding of the century" is now facing a possible life sentence in prison.

Jacob LaGrone, 29, and wife, car dealership heiress Madelaine Brockway, took social media by storm last month after videos of their lavish, five-day wedding in France went viral on TikTok.

The wedding which featured an overnight stay at the Palace of Versailles, rehearsal dinner at the Paris Opera House, and a performance by Maroon 5 at the Texan couple's reception, was nothing short of amazing.

Now, instead of going on their honeymoon, the groom could be facing life in prison, after getting arrested for allegedly shooting at three police officers in an incident on March 14.

The Nashville native was indicted eight months ago on three counts of aggravated assault on a public servant, which is a first-degree felony in Texas, that, if convicted, could see him face a sentence from less than five years to life in prison.

According to city officials, officers responded to multiple disturbance calls about a gun being discharged at a home – and when the three officers arrived, "they were fired upon” by LaGrone.

An indictment obtained by The Washington Post, said that LaGrone "did intentionally and knowingly threaten imminent bodily injury" to the officers and “did use or exhibit a deadly weapon during the commission of the assault, namely, a firearm”.

The indictment did not specify where the incident took place, and no further details were given regarding the disturbance calls.

The Dallas Morning News reported that the Tarrant County District Attorney offered LaGrone a plea deal of 25-years in jail .

Neither LaGrone nor his wife have publicly addressed the charges, and both have since made their social media accounts private.

Images: Instagram/ News.com.au

"It's too late": Sister of mother who died waiting for ambulance speaks out

A Current Affair host Ally Langdon teared up during an interview with the heartbroken sister of Cath Groom, the Brisbane mum who died after waiting for an ambulance that never arrived.

Groom had initially complained of severe chest pain in the hours before she was found dead by her son, Nicholas, on the morning of her 52nd birthday.

Groom's sister, Bec McQuilty said that her family will never get over the tragedy, as she details exactly what happened that night.

McQuilty said her sister had not only complained of severe chest pains, but was also vomiting profusely and had pain between the shoulder blades.

She said Nicholas, Grooms's only son, called triple zero "multiple times" to request an ambulance, but after 90 minutes of no help, Groom decided to go to sleep.

She got up at some point in the night, collapsed and died.

"For a young boy to have to see his mum like that, it just shouldn't happen," McQuilty said.

"He was petrified he didn't know what to do.

"He's been taught through all his life that you can rely on these people and to make a phone call to triple zero and them not be there for him when they should have been, is just blatant neglect.

"I will never forget the look on his face of just absolute despair."

The A Current Affair broke down the moment McQuilty recalled Nicholas calling her in a panic after finding his dead mum.

"I just think this hits all of us, hearing this," Langdon said.

"That scene no doubt will haunt you for a long time."

McQuilty shared that prior to Groom's passing the family was experiencing "the highest of highs to the lowest of lows in the space of 24 hours," after celebrating Nicholas' high school graduation on the Friday.

"To get to such an incredible point of his high school graduation and just to be so proud of him on that day," McQuilty said.

"I could see it in her face that she was just, you know, so so proud.

"And literally 24 hours later he's finding his mother deceased, unnecessarily.

"He's numb, he's angry and he's got a really long road ahead of him."

Nicholas has now lost both parents, as his dad passed away when he was a baby.

McQuilty revealed that her mum was admitted to the ER after finding out the devastating news and "never come back from this".

"She herself was taken to the ER from just complete shock and her own heart," McQuilty said.

"So I have my sister deceased in the house. I have my mom in the ER.

"You know, it's just, no family, Ally, should ever ever have to go through what our family has gone through."

McQuilty hopes that there will be changes made to emergency health system in the wake of her sister's death.

"Put some more money into our hospital system and our health system maybe.

"It's too late for my family, it's too late. But maybe that can save somebody else."

Images: Nine/ A Current Affair

Mother dies after ambulance fails to arrive

A mother from Queensland has tragically died while waiting for an ambulance, after she called 000 complaining of chest pain.

Cath Groom called paramedics just before 10:30pm on Friday after growing increasingly concerned about persistent chest pain, but was left waiting more than an hour and a half for the ambulance to arrive.

Given the nature of Groom's symptoms, her case was deemed urgent, and she should've been tended to by paramedics within 15 minutes.

It is believed that Cath was found dead by her teenage son while still waiting for the ambulance to arrive, the day before her 52nd birthday.

Her friends and family have taken to social media to pay tribute to the “amazing mother” and to express their “deepest shock, grief and sadness” at the news of her sudden passing.

“She was and will always be my favourite human on this earth, I loved her to bits we were like a brother and sister I’m going to be lost without her,” one person wrote.

“What an absolute shock. Such a beautiful girl taken way too soon,” another said.

Ms Groom had long been a single mum after she was left to raise her son on her own after her husband died when the boy was just a baby.

“Rest In Peace Sis, may you rest easy now with Dad and your life’s love and husband Warren,” her sister wrote on social media.

The shock death has renewed calls for the Queensland and federal government to address ambulance delays, with Australian Medical Association Queensland president Dr Maria Boulton saying the state’s healthcare system is “not good enough”.

“This is what happens because the system is under such strain, we know that our healthcare workers do the best they can in a system that is completely broken,” she told the Today Show.

“This is not on them but it also affects them because they don’t want to lose any lives.”

"Cutest thing ever": Bride and groom praised for breaking wedding tradition

A bride and groom have been praised online for deviating from the traditional wedding party to include their siblings in an adorable way.

Carla Wehbe took to TikTok to share a video from her cousin Raymond's nuptials to his partner Bella, in which both the bride and groom wanted their siblings standing next to them on their big day.

Raymond had his sister wear a black dress, to match his groomsmen in their black tuxedos, and be given the title best woman.

In contrast, Bella’s brother was given a pink suit to match the pink dresses of the other bridesmaids and was given the title man of honour.

“The reason they did it was because their siblings were their best friends and they wanted them to stand by their side on their special day,” Wehbe said in an interview with Newsweek. “I loved the idea and thought it made the day really special.”

The video has racked up over 65 million views, with thousands of people flocking to the comments to congratulate the newlywed couple, while praising their decision to break with tradition.

“This needs to be done more often,” one comment read.

However, not all of the commenters were on board with the idea, while many traditionalists slammed the act.

Despite the critcs, Wehbe said most of the comments were positive, and that she wanted to use the video to let people know that they can have any kind of wedding they want, whether it breaks tradition or not.

“It will definitely inspire people who may have wanted to but were not sure if it was acceptable,” she said. “People should just do what makes them happy on their special day!”

A 'help me' sign like she's holding you hostage? The crowd was dry."

"It wasn't even worth it, the juice wasn't even worth the squeeze. You humiliated this woman for what? Mother-of-the-groom slammed for “wildly inappropriate” wedding dress

A woman has caused quite the commotion over her outfit choice for her son’s big day, with one member of the family even taking to social media to find out how others felt about it.

And while the story gained the most traction a year later, people had plenty to contribute to the conversation with it was shared to Reddit, with the majority of the opinion that the mother-of-the-groom had made a major wedding day faux pas.

The post opened with a picture of the dress, an off-white floor length floral gown, with the text “MOG dress at my sister’s wedding” across the bottom of the image.

“Surely they can’t be serious,” one user wrote after stumbling across the story on the internet forum, “absolutely not”.

“First two words out [of] my mouth too. Absolutely not,” another agreed.

When one announced that it looked just like a wedding dress to them, someone else chimed in to add that “she even did the photo of it hanging from the door that you often see in bridal ‘getting ready’ photos.”

“You have to live on Mars not to realise this is entirely inappropriate,” one said. “I would have been pissed.”

And as someone else put it, “I mean, if the theme is ‘everyone wear a wedding dress’ then she nailed it. If it’s literally any other wedding theme this is absolutely wildly inappropriate”.

A member of the family eventually stumbled across the post, and swooped in to assure everyone that it had not been a joke, and to inform them that the mother-in-law had ended up wearing the dress in question.

“I just stumbled across this subreddit and wanted to hear everyone’s opinion,” she said, “because my sister and I thought she was crazy for wearing it!”

“Yikes on bikes,” someone said in response, before asking the questions on everyone’s minds, “what is her relationship with her son like? What was your sister’s relationship with her like before the wedding? What is it like now? Please spill ALL the tea!”

And luckily for them, the woman was happy to oblige, sharing that the groom had been “the oldest of 5 and the last boy to get married.

“They’re a close family and they all get along with my sister, before and after the wedding! She’s a super sweet lady but it was just such an odd choice and came out of left field.”

Images: Reddit

A groom has exposed his new wife after finding out she had been having an affair with his best man during a speech at their wedding.

The scorned groom handed out intimate photos and explicit videos of his wife and the best man together before announcing he would be “leaving now”, dropping the microphone and then walking off with his family, who had been pre-warned.

On The Unfiltered Bride podcast, wedding planners Georgina and Beth spoke about the shocking story.

Georgina said although his family knew, he wanted to go ahead with the wedding so that the bride would have to pay for all the food.

They posted a snippet of their podcast on TikTok, which quickly went viral.

Georgina said on the podcast, “I've got another story to tell you. I can't tell you who told me because I'm not really allowed to tell the story, but f**k it I'm going to tell the story anyway. So there was a wedding and they did the wedding, bride and groom got married, lovely ceremony, drinks reception, sat down for wedding breakfast, had their food, speeches after food.”

“Father of the bride does his thing, groom stands up and says, ‘Just before I properly get started, there's some envelopes coming round now. Yeah those are pictures of the bride f*****g the best man so I'll be leaving now.’ Dropped the microphone and him and all his family knew about it and left because they wanted the bride to have to pay for the food.”

Beth then asked, ”So the bride paid for everything?” To which Georgina replied, “The bride's family paid for everything.”

The video sparked numerous reactions.

“My mouth actually dropped. Groom’s tragic update after bride killed on wedding day

A US man whose bride died on their wedding day after an alleged drunk driver rear-ended their golf cart is recovering at home and planning his wife’s funeral, his family revealed.

Aric Hutchinson, from South Carolina, suffered severe injuries, leaving him with bleeding in his brain, two broken legs, facial fractures and a broken vertebrae in his back, according to a post on GoFundMe, written by his mother, Annette Hutchinson.

The 36-year-old and his new wife, Samantha Miller, 34, had just left their wedding reception when the accused drunk driver Jamie Komoroski crashed her car into the golf cart the newlyweds were riding on. Ms Miller sadly died instantly. Two family members on the same golf cart suffered injuries.

Ms Hutchinson shared that her son is now “physically recovering at home while trying to come to terms with the loss of his beautiful wife. Now he is doing the unimaginable of planning Sam’s funeral along with her family”.

“We are missing Sam more than anything. She instantly fit into our family from the first day Aric and Sam met. She was everything to my son and changed him for the better,” she continued.

“She could light up a room with her presence and had an ease about her. They shared many hopes and dreams for their future, including children and building a house.

“What started as the happiest day for Aric and Sam ended with a tragedy … our hearts are broken along with the Millers’.”

Ms Komoroski has been jailed without bond, and charged with three counts of driving under the influence causing death and reckless vehicular homicide. Authorities claimed the 25-year-old was driving at 104km/h in a 40km/h zone and reportedly only hit the breaks of her Toyota Camry right before the crash.

Ms Komoroski told police she had consumed a tequila shot and one beer an hour prior, but refused to take a field sobriety test following the collision. A blood test was later conducted at a hospital, the results of which have not been released.

In a statement to Fox News, Ms Komoroski's lawyers urged the public not to “rush to judgement”.

Ms Miller’s mother Lisa revealed her heartbreaking final exchange with her beloved daughter.

Speaking to WCIV, Lisa Miller said that “on the beginning of the golf car ride, [Samantha] said, ‘I wish this night could go on forever.’”

“[It was] the best night of her life,” she added.

Ms Miller said she was unaware of “what the distraction was” that caused the accident, but Ms Komoroski “literally ran into my daughter going 65 miles an hour”.

“Sammie and Aric were on the back of the golf cart and so she basically just whammed into my child.”

The bride’s sister, Mandi Jenkins, told WCIV, “That person made a careless mistake. And it’s not a mistake. It is a life-changing event,”

“I never thought it would happen to us and to my beautiful sister, your beautiful daughter and all the 150 people that were there.”

Groom accused of ‘copying’ wedding speech from popular Pinterest post

Footage from an influencer couple’s wedding has gone viral for the wrong reasons.

Jadé Tuncdoruk, 27, and Lachie Brycki, 29 tied the knot at Krinklewood Vineyard in the Hunter Valley last October.

Tuncdoruk posted a TikTok of unseen footage from her husband’s wedding speech, which now has over 10 million views and a lot of comments accusing Brycki of ‘copying’ part of his speech.

"Still can't believe I get to call this man my husband," Tuncdoruk captioned the TikTok.

The clip showed Brycki telling his wife: "When I say I love you more, I don't mean I love you more than you love me. I mean I love you more than the bad days ahead of us. I love you more than any fight we will ever have."

“I love you more than the distance between us; I love you more than any obstacle that could try and come between us,” Brycki added through tears.

Some of Tuncdoruk’s followers were quick to point out that Brycki had used parts of a popular poem written by Erin Nicole, which has been posted all over Pinterest.

"Why do I feel like I've heard this before?" commented one user.

“I know people are saying let it go, but as a wedding vow, it needs to be personal. Copying the entire speech from a poem would make me feel loved less,” commented another user.

"Pretty sure I heard that ‘I love you more bit’ on Pinterest. Thought that counts though," wrote a third.

However, many others have shared their support for the couple and defended Brycki’s actions, acknowledging how hard it is to write a wedding speech.

“Maybe writing original words wasn't his forte but he found words that expressed what he felt? And it's clearly genuine, look at him tearing up,” commented one user.

“I think just because they aren't his words doesn't take away from the meaning of what he said. He clearly resonated with the poem and meant every word he said - his words or not,” wrote another.

“He explained his love in words so so well. Just beautiful,” wrote a third.

Images: TikTok

Groom slammed for arriving to his wedding in a coffin

A groom has been blasted online for his "disrespectful" decision to be carried into his wedding ceremony in a coffin, which was hoisted up to the altar by his future wife's bridesmaids.

The unnamed groom's bizarre entrance was captured on video by a wedding guest, as the man was carted up the aisle at his outdoor ceremony in a black casket, with two bridesmaids leading the eerie procession, while being helped by several groomsmen.

The video, which was shared to TikTok, garnered a whopping 8.2 million views and although it didn't reveal the reactions of the bride, it certainly struck an unhappy chord with viewers, who were quick to blast the newlywed man's actions.

The wedding guest shared the video along with the song Rest In Peace by Dorothy, while adding the caption, "Tell me you're dramatic without telling me you're dramatic.

"They also wrote, "Is this a funeral? No, this is how my friend decided to walk down the aisle."

Online critics were quick to offer up their own horrified reactions to the groom's idea of a joke, with several commenters insisting that they would have cancelled the wedding immediately if their partner had made a similar kind of entrance.

One user said, "We would be divorced before we said I do."

Another user commented, "I would literally cancel the wedding", while another simply said, "The disrespect, the audacity."

ABC accused of "grooming" children after drag queen appearance

The ABC has come under fire after a famous drag queen appeared on a children's program.

Liberal Senator Alex Antic accused the public broadcaster of "grooming" kids, after Courtney Act, whose real name is Shane Jenek, appeared on Play School to read a book about a girl who wanted to wear pants instead of dresses.

“The program was rated G and has been heavily promoted on TV and on the app. Why is the ABC grooming children with this sort of adult content,” Senator Antic said on Tuesday.

He also the program was encouraging "gender dysphoria" by having the drag queen appear at all.

Greens Senator Sarah Hanson Young refuted his claims, suggesting it was an entirely inappropriate use of term "grooming".

“Heavens above – girls wearing pants. That is the level of rubbish you are putting forward,” Senator Hanson-Young said.

The book in question, The Spectacular Suit by Kat Patrick, is about a young girl who feels more comfortable wearing pants than a party dress to her friend's birthday.

Senator Antic said, “Cross dressing. Let me ask you this, does ABC agree that transgender or cross dressing are adult concepts?”

ABC managing director David Anderson rejected the assertion, responding, “Senator, I don’t see that as grooming children with our content.”

The Senator doubled down on his stance, saying the book was "deeply, deeply offensive” and that the ABC should face repercussions for "grooming".

Grooming traditionally refers to when someone builds a relationship, trust and emotional connection with a child or young person so they can manipulate, exploit and abuse them.

But that characterisation was entirely wrong and offensive in the context of a children's story about a girl who likes to wear pants, Senator Hanson-Young said.

“Grooming is a really serious matter! It is not for being played with by conservative senators to make headlines,” she replied

“Sexual assault survivors right around this country will be deeply offended, deeply offended by you playing politics.”

Bride-to-be throws fit over engagement ring

A bride-to-be has slammed her fiancé for the hideous engagement ring he proposed with despite her explaining which one she wanted.

The woman vented her frustration in a Facebook group explaining how she tried hard not to hate the ring.

She then shared two images - one of the ring she was given, and another of the $8,859 mint sapphire ring she wanted.

“I was very excited for the proposal, then this thing came out of the box,” her post read.

“First thing I said was ‘omg that's massive’. I didn't like it at all but I spent a few hours trying not to hate it so much.”

To make matters worse, the sizing of the ring was completely wrong to the point where it got stuck on her finger.

This might have been a sign as the bride-to-be had to be taken to hospital to have the ring cut from her finger.

“The pegs were trying to cut me at every opportunity, and it was way too tight. I did get measured, twice, and I sent him my measurements from every country, but the jeweller f****d up still.” she continued in her rant.

“I'm devastated and crying. He can't get me another ring because it won't be possible before the wedding. I'll never be engaged for real.”

She asked other group members to make her laugh but instead they advised her to reconsider the relationship after not getting what she asked for.

"Sounds like you are compromising a lot and not getting any of what you want in return. Postpone the wedding. Don't do it this way. If he isn't even listening or caring now... well.. I speak from experience and a divorce,' one woman said.

“This was obviously important to you and if he can’t listen and respect you enough to do this right it sounds like there might be bigger issues at play,' one person wrote.

“Would you consider postponing the wedding for a while. Is this a one off? The fact that he didn’t listen to what you had expressed you would like to receive doesn’t bode well. I get he may have been coming from a place of well meaning but you told him exactly what you would like and he totally disregarded it. Please don’t rush into marriage,” another suggested.

“If you still feel this is the man you want to spend your life with tell him you would like a long engagement with the ring of your choice and if he can’t respect that then you have a pretty good idea of what you are getting in to,” someone else commented.

The woman was not having any of it and replied to the comments in defence of her future husband.

“In general he's amazing. I genuinely thought I'm going to get a beautiful ring. I was actually in shock how bad it is because I never saw it coming,” she began.

“I also blame the jeweller a lot more than him, I mean I'm sad he didn't get me the one I wanted as it is for sale but the jeweller did everyone dirty the most in this scenario.”

She also revealed that they eventually went shopping together and purchased a new ring.

Images: Facebook

Blackout bungle sees sisters marry the wrong grooms

Two sisters have accidentally married the wrong grooms during their joint wedding, as a power cut caused a confusing blackout.

The ceremony was happening in the village of Aslana in Madhya Pradesh state, India, when the unfortunate blackout wreaked havoc with the proceedings.

During the confusion, the priest continued to read out the marriage rites, but accidentally confused the couples.

The brides’ father Ramesh Lal suggested the priest may have been confused since the two women were both in red dresses with veils over their faces.

When the mistake was realised, it was later rectified.

Blackouts and power cuts have been more common in India, as unusually high temperatures continue to tear through the country.

These surging temperatures have seen a surge in demand for energy, with many companies resorting to intermittent power cuts in order to cope with the demand.

More than a billion people across south Asia are facing a record-breaking heat wave which leaves them "gasping in whatever shade they find".

Temperatures in northern India have spiked to 47C as neighbouring Pakistan suffered its hottest March for 61 years.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in April, "Temperatures are rising rapidly in the country, and rising much earlier than usual."
