Monty Python star's candid financial admission

Monty Python star Eric Idle has made a candid admission about the state of his finances, revealing why he still has to work at the age of 80.

The comic legend admitted he receives only a fraction of the millions the Python team have made in the past because the finances are a “disaster”.

In messages on X, formerly Twitter, Idle wrote: “I don’t know why people always assume we’re loaded”.

“I have to work for my living. I never dreamed that at this age the income streams would tail off so disastrously."

“I have been working and earning for Pythons since 1995. And now no more.”

Idle also took aim at TV lawyer Holly Gilliam, the daughter of fellow Python member Terry Gilliam, who took over the Python brand in 2013 as part of HDG Projects Ltd.

He said, “I guess if you put a Gilliam child in as your manager you should not be so surprised”.

“One Gilliam is bad enough. Two can take out any company.”

Daughter Lily Idle backed him, writing online, “I’m so proud of my dad for finally finally finally starting to share the truth.”

The Pythons, who also included John Cleese, 84, Michael Palin, 80, and the late Terry Jones — made a fortune thanks to their iconic cult films, including Life of Brian, hit stage show Spamalot, which Idle co-wrote, and the original Flying Circus BBC TV series.

They were back in the limelight in 2014 with Monty Python Live (Mostly) — One Down, Five to Go: a reference to former member Graham Chapman who died in 1989 aged just 48.

It featured interpretations of some of their famous sketches, and reportedly earned the surviving members at least £2 million ($3.87m AUD) each.

Chris Brown's candid love life admission

Dr Chris Brown, who has stolen the hearts of many Aussies with his good looks, charm and love for animals has opened up about his love life.

In a candid interview with Stellar, the TV personality revealed that he will keep his relationships private until he knows it's strong enough to withstand speculation and online commentary.

“The challenge, really, is that it's hard enough to meet the right person, anyway,” he told the publication.

He also opened up on what it's like to date in the public eye.

“That extra layer of speculation and interest… once you're actually in a relationship it's easy, but it's meeting that person at the start that's really hard. You could potentially be on your first date and you get photographed.

“And then there’s a search for who this person is, what her backstory is, and then all of a sudden, it becomes something that it may not be that stage.”

The former I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! host added that it's easy to get into a “cycle”, which is “so bizarre it’s almost amusing”.

In a previous interview with Stellar, he also said that he was "certainly looking for the one" and that his younger self would be "horrified" if he knew that he is still unmarried and without kids.

“But it's my doing. I’ve probably prioritised work more than I potentially should have over the past 10 years – to the detriment of my personal life,” he added.

The beloved TV vet also said that he is looking for a serious relationship: "I don’t want to be this person with a history of short to medium-term relationships.”

While Chris is known for keeping his love life private, he has had a few relationships in the past.

In 2014 he was romantically linked to Bondi-based project manager Hannah Thomas and Home and Away actress Kassandra Clementi.

In late 2016, he dated TV producer Kendall Bora, who he was with for two years. Bora has since tied the knot with Weekend Sunrise host Matt Doran.

In 2018 he reportedly dated Liv Phyland for a year, before eventually calling it quits although they remain "really good friends" according to Women's Day.

He was most recently linked to luxury magazine founder, Brooke Meredith, although they rarely made a public appearance together and reportedly split in late 2022.

Images: Instagram

Shane Warne's daughter's candid admission

Shane Warne's daughter, Brooke, has opened up about how her family has coped with the devastating loss, one year after the cricket legend's passing.

The 24-year-old candidly told Stellar Magazine that, despite missing him deeply, her family, including her siblings Jackson and Summer, as well as her mother Simone Callinan, have remained close-knit in the wake of the tragedy.

"As a family, we've always stuck together. We've always had each other's backs. We're going okay," she told the publication.

"Obviously, I miss him and think about him every second – that's never going to change," she continued.

"I think we just learn to accept life, that this is our life now, and do the best by him and make him proud... and be positive and enjoy everything. You don't know what's going to happen.

"We just had to deal with what comes our way. We do it together, and that's the important thing," she concluded.

This comes just days after loved ones took to social media to honour the legendary cricketer on what would've been his 54th birthday.

Brooke took to Instagram stories to share a throwback photo of herself and her dad.

"Your day King, Happy birthday dad," she captioned the photo posted on Wednesday the 13th with a love heart.

Another photo showed her indulging in a few of her dad's favourite snacks including potato scallops, a donut, lollies and a bag of Musk sticks.

"Birthday lunch for dad. All his faves," she captioned.

Shane's son, Jackson also took to Instagram to honour his late dad, with a video about how he planned to mark the day.

“Today would have been dad’s 54th birthday – happy birthday dad,” he said in the clip.

“And I thought instead of being sad or posting a story in black and white with a big caption with things that are quite obvious, I’m going to do what dad would have wanted me to do which is be happy and do things that make me happy."

He then listed three things that he used to do with his dad including getting Maccas, watching Two and a Half Men, and playing roulette.

“Roulette is on par for me and dad with poker and we just loved cheering on a 23 for a spin. So we’ll go downstairs and see if we can hit a 23. Happy birthday dad," he concluded his video.

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Jackson Warne (@jacksonwarne18)

Shane's younger daughter Summer honoured her late dad with another throwback picture posted on Instagram stories with the caption: "Happy Birthday Dad.
Michelle Bridges has spoken candidly about the challenges of being a single parent to her seven-year-old son Axel.

The former Biggest Loser trainer described her son, who she shared with ex-partner and fellow celebrity trainer Steve Willis, as a "confident" little boy.

While Bridges was doing radio interviews about a new project, Axel joined in on the fun.

The 52-year-old told 9Honey, "He's just like a little man now, we have good conversations and he's got a really good sense of humour."

"He went into that radio station this morning, just jumped on the microphone, started singing and was answering the phone."

Bridges said she has purposefully organised her everyday life to be present in her young son's life.

"I've kind of engineered my life this way to be able to take him to school and pick him up pretty much every single day," she says.

She went on to say her and Axel are "two peas in a pod", while admitting it has been difficult to raise Axel as a single parent.

"We're a team and we're very close, extremely close. Jackie O's candid admission about her wealth

Jackie O Henderson, who is one of the most well-paid women in Australia's entertainment industry, has opened up about how "embarrassed" she feels by the reports of her wealth, and how daunting it is to earn so much.

The radio star made the candid admission on Stellar’s Something To Talk About podcast, where she shared the “scary” reality of being a self-made female millionaire.

“I do sometimes get embarrassed to talk about money. I hate showing off wealth. I’ve always been like that … I want a nice bag, car and house, but I don’t want to flaunt it,” she said.

The breakfast host and her co-star Kyle Sandilands were rumoured to earn around $7-8 million each per year, when they renewed their contract for The Kyle and Jackie O show with ARN in 2019.

“But [at the same time] I shouldn’t be embarrassed about it, so I am trying to take more ownership of that," she added.

Henderson shared her own struggles of navigating conversations around wealth.

“And as a man, they’d absolutely be owning that, and as a female, when you’re single, it’s quite scary to earn a lot of money, because a lot of men can be intimidated by that.

“And so your instinct is to downplay it for that reason.”

She added that although she is grateful for such a successful career, she preferred the "chase" over the destination.

“I am grateful for it, I am, but sometimes I think … I wish I was just back in my 20s and trying to buy my first apartment,” she added.

“Isn’t that weird? It’s only a thought I had a couple of weeks ago … I don’t know. I keep asking myself why I’m thinking that way.

“All I’ll say is, as women, we just need to be proud a little more.”

Images: Instagram / Stellar Magazine

“I was spiralling”: Naomi Watts’ candid menopause admission

Naomi Watts has spoken candidly about how her life drastically changed when she started going through early menopause at the age of 36.

The Aussie actress, now 54, said going through such a big change at such a young age “wasn’t easy”, and found it difficult to access information about what she was going through, both physically and mentally.

Speaking candidly to Hello magazine, she said, “Going through menopause at such a young age was not easy, especially during a time when there was so little information available about it.”

“Mood swings, night sweats, and migraines … I was feeling like I was spiralling out of control,” she added.

According to the Mayo Clinic, menopause typically occurs at the age of 50, when a woman experiences her last period.

Despite the change coming on much earlier than anticipated, Watts said learning to cope with the hormonal changes helped her feel more liberated.

“Going through this journey led me to a deeper understanding of myself, and I came out on the other side feeling more authentically me,” she told Page Six.

“A lot of freedom came in the self-acknowledgment.”

She continued, “I had those voices in the back of my mind reminding me how old women are let out to pasture, but there was a lure to this desire to be authentic, to crawl from behind the invisible wall and just acknowledge for myself something that everyone could have probably guessed.”

Watts’ personal experience led her to partner with Menopause Mandate, a non-profit organisation that aims to revolutionise midlife support available for American women.

“I truly believe that if menopause hadn’t been such an off-limits topic when I first started experiencing symptoms, I would’ve had an easier transition,” she said.

“I was part of a cycle that desperately needed to be broken.”

“I’m not gonna be 80": Michael J. Fox's tragic admission

Beloved actor Michael J. Fox is acknowledging how difficult his more than 30-year battle with Parkinson’s disease has become.

“I’m not gonna be 80,” the Back to the Future star said in a preview for an upcoming episode of the American current affairs program CBS Sunday Morning, according to Page Six.

In the clip, Journalist Jane Pauley tells Fox that he has “not squandered” but that his condition will eventually “make the call” as to when it’s his time to go.

“Yeah, it’s, it’s banging on the door,” the actor said.

“I’m not gonna lie. It’s gettin’ hard, it’s gettin’ harder. It’s gettin’ tougher. Every day it’s tougher.”

Fox revealed that he had surgery to remove a benign tumour on his spine, but the procedure “messed up” his walking and so he started to “break” other parts of his body, including his arm, elbow, face and hand.

He added that the “big killer” of Parkinson’s disease is “falling” and can also be “aspirating food and getting pneumonia”, pointing out that it is “all these subtle ways that gets you.”

You don’t die from Parkinson’s. You die with Parkinson’s,” he said. “So – so I’ve been – I’ve been thinking about the mortality of it.”

The actor was diagnosed with the brain disorder at just 29. He has since become a leading advocate for research on the condition, with the launch of the Michael J. Fox Foundation in 2000 to help educate the public and fund studies.

He has previously revealed that he does not fear death.

“I’m really blunt with people about cures. When they ask me if I will be relieved of Parkinson’s in my lifetime, I say, ‘I’m 60 years old, and science is hard. So, no,’” he admitted in an AARP magazine profile in December 2021.

“I am genuinely a happy guy. I don’t have a morbid thought in my head — I don’t fear death. At all.”

Today Show host's honest dating life admission

Brooke Boney has made an honest admission about her dating life live on-air.

The Today Show entertainment reporter was giving her showbiz report on Thursday morning, which featured a clip of an interview with Jennifer Aniston speaking about her own dating struggles on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

The Friends actress was discussing her long-running friendship with fellow movie star Adam Sandler, claiming he often weighs into her love life with the question, “What are you doing!?”, in reference to unsuitable partners.

Brooke added her own commentary to Aniston's admission, saying, “To be fair, my friends also sometimes say that to me,” she said, before turning to Today host Karl Stefanovic, who echoed Aniston’s comment, “What are you doing!?”

“I know, you’ve said that [to me] a couple of times Karlos,” she added, laughing.

Boney's admission was surprising for many viewers, as she is notoriously protective of her private life.

In March 2020, she revealed she has a boyfriend who was living in the UK, though never revealed his identity to her followers on social media.

Later the same year, it was evident the pair had gone their separate ways after Boney confirmed she was single again in an ambush segment featuring her mother, Leonie, who appeared on Today talking about how she wanted her daughter to date a “decent bloke”.

Following her break-up, which she revealed was several years long, Brooke penned an emotional column for the Sydney Morning Herald in which she detailed the decision to freeze her eggs.

“There’s still the stigma of being single in your 30s, with people assuming you can’t find love. Instead, maybe the decision to freeze eggs should be seen through the prism of its more likely causes: prioritising career; making decisions based on values; waiting for the right person; or simply leaving options open,” Boney wrote.

Sam Armytage's frank admission about getting older

Sam Armytage has made a refreshingly honest declaration about the harsh realities of ageing.

In her column for Stellar Magazine, the Farmer Wants a Wife host said she is no longer worrying about the small things that used to bother her.

“It turns out that as you get older, you don’t actually figure anything out,” she wrote in her November column.

“You just don’t have the energy to care any more.”

While she admitted it's not about giving up, she explained why she has felt more freedom since ditching the worries of passing fads and fashions of youth.

“There are few things that have brought me more pleasure recently than hearing that the skinny jeans fad is kaput,” she joked, before noting that she’d now started adding retinol into her skincare routine.

She added that she had reached the point of constantly turning down the volume in the car - or wanting someone else to turn it down in the bar or restaurant.

“And a dose of the COVID Delta virus seems to have somehow affected the shape of my feet; I simply can’t wear high heels all day anymore,” she added.

But rather than letting these things get her down, Armytage, 46, said she has felt the liberation of getting older.

Not having the energy to care about “figuring stuff out” wasn’t keeping her awake at night - it was more likely the uncomfy pillow or crick in the neck that was responsible for that problem.

“I must say I’m finding wide-leg jeans, flat shoes and the salads and greens on my dining table at home - complete with background music at normal levels - all very joyful,” she wrote.

After posting her latest column to Instagram, she received an outpouring of praise from her followers for "keeping it real".

“Sounds like you’re really in tune with everything,” one follower observed.

“You’re happy and content. It’s the little things in life that you notice change when you feel that contentment.”

Ghislaine Maxwell conviction in jeopardy over juror's admission

After a highly publicised trial that saw Ghislaine Maxwell convicted for sex-trafficking, the guilty verdict is now in jeopardy.

After the trial ended, a juror made comments to the media about how discussing their own experience with sexual abuse with the other jurors helped them reach a guilty verdict, and ultimately affected the jury's deliberations.

Both prosecutors and defense attorneys raised concerns over this revelation, as experts told Insider that it's possible Maxwell's conviction could be thrown out as a result of the juror's comments to the media.

It is also possible that the juror in question could face legal consequences such as perjury charges, if US District Judge Alison Nathan determines he was untruthful during the pre-trial procedure.

The voir dire is the procedure that happens before a trial commences to determine if each prospective juror is suitable to serve objectively.

The juror told Reuters that they "flew through" the pre-trial questionnaire and didn't recall being asked about any previous experience with sexual assault, as they said they would've answered the question honestly.

However, court records show that the questionnaire asked all prospective Maxwell jurors, "Have you or a friend or family member ever been the victim of sexual harassment, sexual abuse or sexual assault?"

Following this revelation, a second juror from the Maxwell trial came forward and said they also shared their experiences of sexual assault in the jury deliberations, and potentially swaying the guilty verdict.

In the hours after the news of the jurors' own experiences came to light, Ghislaine Maxwell's lawyers have called for a retrial on her case.

Maxwell was found guilty on five out of six sex-trafficking and conspiracy counts, and is facing up to 65 years in jail.

Ghislaine Maxwell was arrested in July 2020 after her involvement with disgraced late financier Jeffrey Epstein came to light.

In a candid interview with Hamish Macdonald, Lisa Wilkinson has revealed the moment she was "dismissed" from her long standing role on Channel 9's Today breakfast show.

While discussing her upcoming memoir It Wasn't Meant To Be Like This, Lisa spoke about how she found out she’d no longer be a part of the Today Show line-up in October 2017.

“I was standing in aisle six at Woolies holding a can of tuna [when she got the call from management],” Lisa explained.

“I felt stupid and humiliated and betrayed and pretty pathetic.”

She explained that her dismissal was to "humiliate" her, after being in negotiations with Channel 9 management to close the pay gap with her co-host of 10 years, Karl Stefanovic,

“I was very expendable,” she said, noting the gap she had with Stefanovic “doesn’t get much bigger” than what she experienced.

“I didn’t even get a chance to say goodbye to the audience. I was just told – that’s it.”

After working alongside Karl for a decade on the breakfast show, Lisa said she no longer has a relationship with him.

“We are not really in touch,” she admitted, adding she was “hurt” by their subsequent breakdown after she exited the breakfast show.

“But you pick up and you move on — and that’s exactly what I did.”

The admission of her estrangement from Karl came as a shock to many, given the pair seemingly continued their friendship off air, posing for photos during a lunch together weeks after the headline-making departure.

In a subsequent interview with Stellar Magazine, Lisa said there was a lot of information regarding her Channel 9 departure that was "untrue".

“It was quite shocking some of the narrative that was put out there by my previous employer,” she told the News Corp publication.

“I feel that there was a lot that was said that was untrue. Dr Charlie Teo makes shock admission about his future

Well-known neurosurgeon Charlie Teo has broken his silence about the recent allegations which have rocked his prominent 35-year career.

Last week, the Medical Council of NSW stated Dr Teo would be required to get the support of a second neurosurgeon before he performed specific high-risk operations.

These new conditions were imposed after Dr Teo attended a hearing at the medical council, instigated by a number of complaints from other surgeons.

Dr Teo’s registration now has some conditions attached to it including a requirement to meet regularly with a supervisor and get a supporting opinion from a fellow neurosurgeon, before operating on recurrent cancerous brain tumours and brain stem tumours.

Since the hearing, Dr Teo has mainly spoken through his lawyers but now the surgeon has personally addressed the allegations by talking to The Daily Telegraph.

Dr Teo has revealed he may walk away from medicine

When speaking about the allegations, Dr Teo revealed he may walk away from medicine.

He also addressed the claims he told sexual jokes while operating. These allegations first surfaced in a Sydney Morning Herald article in September 2019, with a nurse telling the publication she had heard Dr Teo making sexually suggestive jokes to his staff including saying “while you’re down there …” when a nurse was bending down to pick something up.

Dr Teo has today conceded he told “bad jokes” in the operating theatre.

“I’ll be the first to admit that I said that. I’m not gonna step back from that. I’ll take that on the chin. But never again. I can see how things can be taken out of context,” he said.

“Yeah, I was a dinosaur,” he added. “I used to tell bad jokes amongst my inner sanctum. In my defence, when you are totally focused on the job at hand, it’s difficult to think about being politically correct if it doesn’t come naturally.”

The nurse in question, Young Je, who Dr Teo made the jokes to, has since said she didn’t take the suggestions to heart.

“I wasn’t offended at all,” she said.

Ms Je has worked with Dr Teo for 12 years and they virtually consider each other as family.

“Our relationship is that special,” Dr Teo has said. “She was devastated when that came out.”

More conditions imposed on Dr Teo

The medical council has also ordered Dr Teo to file monthly reports of his procedures containing details of the surgery and patient; whether the patient travelled from interstate; any complications; and copies of all opinions from other surgeons, whether they approved or disapproved of the proposed operation.

Dr Teo – who is a NSW Australian of the Year finalist - must also meet regularly with a supervisor to discuss management of interstate patients, care after discharge, and “professional behaviour, including but not limited to communication with colleagues and patients”.

Regular audits are also among the conditions published on Dr Teo’s profile on the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency website (AHPRA).

The notice states the council considered the restrictions appropriate ‘for the protection of the health and safety or any person or persons, or because it is satisfied that action is otherwise in the public interest.’

Dr Teo's public statement

In a public statement last week, Dr Teo said he accepted the council’s direction to consult with another neurosurgeon on “two rare types of surgery” and “will also have retrospective discussions with a colleague to review outcomes”.

His statement read: ‘Dr Teo believes that his treatment of patients, who suffer from extremely rare, complicated and terminal brain cancers, had always been in line with local and international standards of care and welcomes greater transparency of his office procedures.’

‘I am often approached by patients suffering from brain cancer who have been told that there is nothing else to be done.

‘Published manuscripts over the past 30 years show that my success rate with these so-called “inoperable” tumours has been very successful in curing “incurable” tumours, extending survival or improving quality of their lives.’

Image: Charlie Teo Foundation / Instagram

Scott Morrison's sober admission after chaotic scenes in Kabul

Scott Morrison has made a somber warning that Australia's rescue mission in Afghanistan will fall short.

The Prime Minister confirmed that work was underway on Tuesday, but said the assignment won't reach "all that it should", as he urged veterans to not lose faith in the government.

The evacuation expedition is ongoing in Kabul, as the government works to liberate both Australian and Afghan workers amid the ongoing crisis.

Scott Morrison insisted that the government has a rescue mission plan, but declined to go into further details.

“I want to thank all of those who have been working tirelessly to ensure that we can put these plans safely in place, to make sure that we can follow through, not just on the care that we have provided to citizens in these situations but, of course, the many Afghan nationals who will be making Australia their home,” Mr Morrison said.

He went on to say he has spoken to veterans who are concerned for their safety, and insists everything possible is being done.

He said, “I want you to know that we will continue to do everything we can for those who have with us, as we have to this day. Delta Goodrem’s surprising admission

Delta Goodrem has a confession make - she was 27 when she had her first alcoholic drink.

“I’d worked from such a young age that it wasn’t until my late twenties that I finally started to have my teenage years,” Goodrem told News Corp Australia yesterday.

“I had so much going on in my teens there wasn’t really the space to have a few drinks and have my friends look after me. But in my late twenties I had that period of self-discovery, things had started to get a bit much for me around that time. The lyrics mention how I was trying to numb the pain around me. It was an interesting chapter in my life.”

Goodrem made the revelation in her first book, Bridge Over Troubled Dreams, the companion piece to her new album of the same name.

Both will be released on May 14.

“One day I’d like to write an autobiography, but right now I’m happy to share my stories through music. This book is about the making of the album, the stories behind each song and what I learned while I was making. And there’s definitely parts of my life I haven’t spoken about before in this book.”

As well as a hardcover book, Goodrem has also recorded an audiobook with special acoustic versions of songs from her sixth album.

Her admission about not drinking until she was 27 is the opening line of her new single Billionaire, released today.

The album includes a song, Crash, where she talks about being born two months premature, while Dear Elton is a love letter to the musician who helped her fall back in love with the piano.

“Every record I have a different goal, this one was about being at my instrument, being the barefoot singer songwriter, going back to what is real and raw and honest, not trying to chase anything just being present in the music.”

Lyrics to Billionaire

I didn't drink till I was 27

That day I went to numb the pain inside me

The emptiness was showing

The hate around me growing

I thought I had to bury my self-worth

The Boulevard of Broken Dreams was building

The whiskey kept on turning into wine

Some people started asking

Oh where was all this going?

Then tried to pull the wool over my eyes

I've always been a lady

And that always saved me

I had to see the other side

My mama said, 'Go marry rich, girl'

It'll take your problems all away

But I lead life with my heart

And the world's not always fair

I'm gonna make myself that billionaire

I've never been impressed with money or power

Cause I thought I'd be the one to rule the world

So many men would tell me

It would be the gifts they gave me

But that just don't make them my Mr. Right

My name is Delta lady

You can't try to change me

I'll give you many reasons why

My mama said, 'Go marry rich, girl'

It'll take your problems all away

But I lead life with my heart

And the world's not always fair

I'm gonna make myself that billionaire

He said, 'Baby hold my hand'

I'm not your baby, understand

I'm gonna need a grown-ass man

Who takes me for who I am

My mama said, 'Go marry rich, girl'

It'll take your problems all away

But I lead life with my heart

Though the world's not always fair

I'm gonna make myself that billionaire

Shake that wannabe

You're only gonna end up lonely

He's no good you see

The real ones love unconditionally

You got to shake that wannabe

You're only gonna end up lonely
