Alan Joyce preparing to sell controversial $20 million mansion

<p>Outgoing Qantas CEO Alan Joyce is saying goodbye to more than his long-time role at the airline as he prepares to sell his controversial harbourside mansion.</p> <p>The veteran airline boss purchased the gorgeous North Shore home for a staggering $19 million in May 2022.</p> <p>Soon after he was forced to launch a fierce defence of his excessive spending habits after Qantas announced a whopping $1.9 billion loss.</p> <p>The airline came under fire for poor customer service, extended wait times for flyers, and drama over lost bags and late flights, amid legal action over its move to lay off workers that lead to Joyce launching the defence of his own record as airline boss.</p> <p>He said he was tired of being forced to justify his professional and personal decisions.</p> <p>“Why is it relevant what I do in my private life? I’m not a public figure. People regard the CEO of Qantas as like a politician and it definitely shouldn’t be. It’s a business figure,’ Joyce told <em>The Australian</em> in 2022.</p> <p>“It’s been well reported over the years how much I get paid, so I do have the money because Qantas went to record profits and had a ­record share price.”</p> <p>According to reports, Joyce is set to sell his short-term blue chip pile in Mosman, overlooking Mosman Bay and move into a generous penthouse in The Rocks.</p> <p>It is understood that Joyce has undertaken some refurbishments on the Mosman home. Richard Wilkins makes huge profit on Mosman home

<p dir="ltr">Richard Wilkins has offloaded his second investment property in Mosman for $925,000 - nearly $100,000 more than the auction guide.</p> <p dir="ltr">The two-bedroom apartment, set on the ground floor of the boutique ‘Tremaine’ building and overlooking the garden, went to auction with a price guide of $850,000 in late July.</p> <p><span id="docs-internal-guid-a880b50d-7fff-f488-f073-33618f75cfb9">Boasting a newly-updated kitchen, views of the garden, and natural light that filters through the north-facing balcony into the combined living and dining room, the 95.3-square-metre apartment is also in a prime location, just 200 metres away from the vibrant Mosman village, and 800 metres from Balmoral Beach. according to <a href="https://www.realestate.com.au/sold/property-apartment-nsw-mosman-139694615" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the listing</a>.</span></p> <blockquote class="instagram-media" style="background: #FFF; "Mesmerising" James Bond-style mega-home hits the market

<p>The owners of a luxury home in the exclusive Sydney suburb of Mosman that's just hit the market went so far as to call in miners from Lightning Ridge just to build an incredible tunnel – that is now wowing interested buyers.</p><p>“It’s very James Bond and high-tech,” says Di Jones Mosman agent Jacqui Rowland-Smith of the 25m tunnel on the property, which has $10m expectations in an expressions of interest campaign.</p><p>“You come out of the garage and walk into the tunnel, the lights come on and there’s music … it’s mesmerising.”</p><p>The five-bedroom home with four bathrooms also boasts a heated pool and stunning views taking in the Opera House and city skyline.</p><p>Owners Robert Procter, an electrical engineer, and his wife, Wendy, say it’s the addition of the tunnel four years ago, from the street and double garage to a lift taking them to both levels of the home, that’s been a game-changer.</p><p>“It means we don’t have to walk up 63 steps, which is particularly difficult in the pouring rain,” says Robert.</p><p>They even included a home gym in the tunnel. Their builder had put them in touch with the Lightning Ridge miners, who were prepared to move to Sydney for the six-month long project.</p><p>The Procters even gave them free board and three meals a day.</p><p>“It’s a big house and the five of them stayed downstairs … the only thing we didn’t supply was alcohol – which would have cost more than the tunnel,” Robert said.</p><p>The miners used jackhammers for the vertical lift shaft and a special machine that cut through the rock for the tunnel. He said that, including the lift and landscaping, there wasn’t much change from $1m for the work, which he declares was well worth it.</p><p>The miners went on to do similar work at other homes around Sydney, and WestConnex even offered them a job.</p><p>But the miners ended up knocking back the work, says Robert.</p><p>“They looked at the government contract — penalties if they were 10 minutes late? They decided to give it a miss,” he said.</p><p>The Procters moved into the home 40 years ago, when it cost them $290,000. Times have certainly changed.</p><p>Images: Real Estate.com.au</p>

Angry residents ask neighbours to ban their kids from being outside before 9am

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">A frustrated resident of Mosman on Sydney’s affluent harbourside has penned a letter to their neighbours about their noisy kids playing outside before 9am.</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The letter was shared to a Mosman community Facebook page and received an abundance of comments from bewildered locals calling their request “ridiculous”.</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In the letter, the author begins with a passive aggressive “Congratulations on your renovations”, implying the noise has been going on for some time. </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">They go on to write “we have endured many months of construction noise and now we are being disturbed by your kids in the backyard early in the morning.”</span></p> <p><img style="width: 500px; height: 281.25px;" src="https://oversixtydev.blob.core.windows.net/media/7842875/mosman-complaint.jpg" alt="" data-udi="umb://media/2b1d8847ab754020896603c90569cdb7" /></p> <p><em>Image credit: Facebook</em></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The author goes on to request that their neighbours keep their active children inside until 9am, instead of 7:30am when they are “disturbing the peace in the neighbourhood.”</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The letter concludes by stating “Kids will be kids but I’m simply asking if they can go out later so your neighbours are not awoken too early in the morning.”</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">While some locals living in the elite suburb with an average house price of $4.1million sympathised with the person who wrote the complaint, most did not. </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">One commenter wrote, “'Seriously! We are in lockdown… We all need to show a little patience.”</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Another perplexed neighbour said, “FFS let them get some outside air before at-home learning starts. It's good for them… Suck it up neighbours.”</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">However, through all the comments calling out the author of the note, some jumped to their defence. </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">One local parent wrote, “I have two kids and I never let them play in the garden until around 9am. Sunrise star Natalie Barr buys back into Mosman

<p>Natalie Barr has bought back in to Mosman, a year after she sold her last family home.</p> <p>According to <em><a href="https://www.realestate.com.au/news/sunrise-presenter-natalie-barr-buys-back-into-mosman/?rsf=syn:news:nca:news:spa:strap">realestate.com.au</a></em>, this is the third house the <em>Sunrise </em>presenter and her husband Andrew Thompson have owned in the Sydney suburb.</p> <p>The couple are tipped to have paid about $2.8 million for the four-bedroom, two-bathroom house, near its price guide.</p> <p>The home is equipped with white picket fence as well as an entertaining area and a shed in its backyard.</p> <p>Last year, Barr and her husband sold their Federation home in the same suburb <a href="https://www.oversixty.com.au/travel/domestic-travel/inside-nat-barrs-sydney-home">for $3.6 million</a>. The couple first bought the property in 2016 for $3,235,000.</p> <p>Since selling up, the pair and their two sons have been renting a five-bedroom home nearby for <a href="https://www.oversixty.com.au/entertainment/tv/look-whos-renting-inside-natalie-barrs-2500-per-week-luxury-family-home">$2,500 a week</a>.</p> <p>Mosman is also home to a number of Barr’s fellow TV personalities, including Georgie Gardner, Sonia Kruger and Karl Stefanovic.</p> <p><span>Scroll through the gallery to see inside the amazing Mosman property.</span></p>

Sydney campervan owner discovers obscene note on windscreen

<p>A campervan owner has engaged in a war of words with residents on a Sydney street, after one disgruntled local left an obscene note on the vehicle.</p> <p>Dannielle Miller posted a series of photographs to Twitter to document the exchange, with the caption, “This is peak Mosman”.</p> <p>The note that sparked the arguments reads: “Attention. Could you please move this piece of s*** off our road. Perhaps it may take another day so we can clean off the mess you have made”.</p> <p>“We understand that our Winnie is a large eyesore and apologise for any embarrassment it has caused you.
