"They were tricked": Kyle Sandilands defends the return of ISIS brides

Kyle Sandilands has spoken out in support of four ISIS brides and their 13 children returning to Australian shores from Syria.

The radio shock jock went on an impassioned rant on the Kyle and Jackie O Show on Thursday morning, explaining why he supports them being brought back home, as he believes they didn't know what they were getting themselves in to.

He said, "They are Australian citizens who were tricked, young girls tricked into sex slavery, getting bashed and threatened."

"They've lived in a Syrian refugee camp for several years with children. I welcome you with open arms, you're welcome back to the country."

Kyle also questioned the onslaught of negative media attention the families have received since returning to Australia just days ago.

"It's very strange how a lot of these journalists are acting like they're the horrible terrorists," he said.

Sandilands called for people to remember the dire conditions the families have been living in at the al-Hol and al-Roj refugee camps in Syria, and encouraged people to be a little more compassionate to the families.

"Yesterday there was an article saying they've gone to a McDonald's and a Kmart and I was like 'So what? Just like anyone else can'."

His comments come after Sky News host Peta Credlin slammed the Albanese government for failing to provide reasons why the families were repatriated.

"It's completely shirked its duty to explain how the safety of a few women who rejected Australia to join terrorist groups abroad trumps the safety of the wider population," Ms Credlin said.

"They (residents of Sydney's southwest) shouldn't have terrorists or terrorist sympathisers living in a street next to them."

Image credits: KIIS FM / Nine

Barnaby Joyce slams decision to bring ISIS brides and children back

Barnaby Joyce has warned that children who were taken to war torn countries under ISIS rule or were born under the regime pose a huge risk to Australia.

The former Nationals leader said the men and women who travelled to join terrorist organisations made their own decisions.

He said that Australia repatriating four women and their 13 children after being stuck in al-Hol and al-Roj camps in the north eastern Syria region since 2019 was a bad idea.

“They chose to go and be part of a terrorist organisation that was murdering people, raping people, destroying the cultural heritage of countries, and the children that were born overseas are citizens of wherever they were born,’’ Mr Joyce said on Sunrise.

The women however have disputed Mr Joyce’s claims with many of them claiming that they were forced to travel to Syria with their husbands, or were taken there as teenagers and children by their parents before marrying local men.

Mr Joyce said the scheme will cost millions of dollars to keep an eye on the women and children to ensure no Aussies are put at risk.

“As a former deputy chair of the National Security Committee, this will cost millions and millions of dollars to monitor them," he said.

“We have one problem for one person who does not relinquish the vile views they have and meet up with other people and start to espouse their views at some stage of the future.

“That is a massive risk to us and a massive problem. Because people chose to go there, it is totally different and I have real concerns about this, serious concerns about this, serious concerns about what happens.”

Labor frontbencher Tanya Plibersek said it was unfair to paint the children of the women with the same brush.

“(ISIS) were a disgusting organisation that did disgusting things, but ...a number of these women were taken as children to Syria,’’ she said.

“They were children themselves when they were children themselves when they were taken and they have children now who are Australian citizens growing up in some of the most dangerous places on earth.”

She said it should be reassuring that Australia’s security agencies went above and beyond to ensure their safety and will integrate them back into society.

“I understand why people are concerned and it is absolutely vital that we continue to take the advice of our security agencies that these women stay in touch with people who are prepared to supervise them and in many cases, they will be for a long time, but we need to get these kids home safely and get the kids into normal schools, surrounded by family that love them, integrating into the Australian way of life.

“That’s how we keep ourselves safe and that’s how we keep them safe.”

Images: Getty/Facebook

ISIS makes chilling threat against Prince George

Islamic State extremists have targeted Prince George in a chilling new threat against the UK, saying, “Even the royal family will not be left alone.”

The ISIS fanatics allegedly posted a photo of the future king on encrypted instant messaging app Telegram alongside the young prince’s school address and the terrifying comment, “School starts early”.

It’s also believed the message contained words from a jihadi song, which translates from Arabic to: “When war comes with the melody of bullets, we descend on disbelief, desiring retaliation.”

Telegram has been described as a “breeding ground” for terrorists after it was revealed that extremists had been using the app to spread propaganda in the time leading up to the 2015 Paris attacks.

“Now we are seeing explicit threats,” internet surveillance expert Barry Spielman told the Daily Star. “It seems that as IS continues to lose ground in Syria and Iraq, it has stepped up its threats to hit the West.”

It’s not the first threat against the royal family – the Queen was targeted in 2015 and just last month, ISIS challenged Prince Harry to come and fight them. “Why don’t you come here and fight us if you’re man enough, so that we can send you and your Apaches to hellfire?”
