Rebel Wilson has taken to social media to criticise Sydney’s latest lockdown, saying “you can’t keep locking down as a strategy”.

Though the Aussie actress is based in the US, she owns several properties in Sydney and made a series of Instagram Story posts sharing her thoughts on the two-week lockdown.

“Sydney WTF!!!” Wilson wrote in one story, which she followed up with a photo she said her mother had taken at a Sydney Woolworths of an empty supermarket shelf, captioned, “Mum took this at Woolworths”.

In another post, she wrote: “You can’t keep locking down as a strategy.”

Wilson owns a waterfront home in Sydney’s Birchgrove along with several other properties, and alternates between living in Sydney and Los Angeles.

Currently, the star is shooting the upcoming Netflix film Senior Year in Atlanta.

The decision to enforce a two-week lockdown across Greater Sydney and surrounding areas came as COVID-19 cases continued to spread across the region.

Ms Berejiklian defended her government’s handling of the latest surge in cases.

“Can I say very, very strongly any success New South Wales has had to date is because our government to the letter followed health advice,” she said.

“I’m not someone who will be afraid to take any decision we need to keep our citizens safe.”
