The funeral of Prince Philip at Windsor Castle will be a tiny affair in comparison to the grand processions for other deceased royals in the past, due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Only 30 people are currently allowed to attend the funeral services, with even the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson saying he will not attend, in order  to free up space for family members.

British media reports these 30 people will most likely  be in attendance at Prince Philip’s funeral.

1. THE QUEEN

Her Majesty was married to Prince Philip for over 73 years and is understandably consumed by grief over the passing over her husband.

2. CHARLES, PRINCE OF WALES

Charles is the eldest child of Prince Philip, and heir to the throne. The royal paid a touching tribute to “dear papa”, saying that he and the royal family miss him “enormously”.

3. CAMILLA, DUCHESS OF CORNWALL

Camilla is the wife of Prince Charles and sadly, Prince Philip died on April 9 – the couple’s 16th wedding anniversary.

4. ANDREW, DUKE OF YORK

The Duke of York is the third child of the Queen and Prince Philip.

He made a rare public appearance outside a church service following the news of his dad’s death.

He on his mother’s behalf, telling reporters that the Queen had described her husband’s death as having left “a huge void in her life”.

5. EDWARD, EARL OF WESSEX

He is the youngest child of the Queen and Prince Philip and was reportedly extremely close with his father.

6. SOPHIE, COUNTESS OF WESSEX

Sophie is the wife of the Queen’s youngest children, and is said to be a very close confidante of the Queen.

7. ANNE, PRINCESS ROYAL

She is the only daughter of Her Majesty and Prince Philip, and was said to be her dad’s favourite child.

In an emotional tribute to the Duke of Edinburgh, she said “you know it’s going to happen but you are never really ready”.

“My father has been my teacher, my supporter and my critic, but mostly it is his example of a life well lived and service freely given that I most wanted to emulate”.

8. VICE-ADMIRAL SIR TIMOTHY LAURENCE

He is second husband of Princess Anne, and was equerry to the Queen from 1986 to 1989.

9. PRINCE WILLIAM, DUKE OF CAMBRIDGE

The royal is the eldest son of Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana.

He will walk behind his grandfather’s coffin with his younger brother, Prince Harry.

10. CATHERINE, DUCHESS OF CAMBRIDGE

The Duchess is the wife of Prince William.

11. PRINCE HARRY, DUKE OF SUSSEX

The youngest son of Prince Charles and Princess Diana, it is understood by the royal could not be by his grandfather’s side when he passed as he flew in from California.

12. PETER PHILLIPS

Peter is the son of Princess Anne and her former husband Captain Mark Phillips. Phillips is the eldest grandson of the Queen and Prince Philip.

He is said to have been Philip’s favourite grandson.

13. ZARA TINDALL

Zara is the only daughter of Princess Anne, and recently gave birth to her third child, a son named Lucas Philip in honour of her grandfather as well as the father of her husband, Mike Tindall.

14. MIKE TINDALL

Mike is the husband of Zara and is a former rugby star. Tindall is not a working royal but has taken part in royal engagements in the past.

15. PRINCESS BEATRICE

Beatrice is the daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson. She released just one image from her July 2020 wedding — a socially distanced picture with the Queen and Prince Philip.

It was one of the Duke of Edinburgh’s last public appearances.

16. PRINCESS EUGENIE

Eugenie is the youngest daughter of Prince Andrew. She shared a special bond with Prince Philip, naming her newborn son August Philip Hawke.

“I think Grandpa is incredible,” Princess Eugenie said in the documentary Our Queen at Ninety in 2016.

“He really is strong and consistent. He’s been there for all these years, and I think he’s the rock, you know, for all of us.”

17. LADY LOUISE WINDSOR

Louise is the 17-year-old daughter of Prince Edward.

It is understood she was very close to Prince Philip, as the two enjoyed carriage driving together.

Following Philip’s death, Lady Louise took two of Philip’s favourite horses for a carriage ride in Windsor Park as a touching tribute to her late grandfather.

18. JAMES, VISCOUNT SEVERN

James is the 13-year-old son of Edward. Earl of Wessex, and Sophie, Countess of Wessex.

James is the youngest grandchild of the Queen and Prince Philip.

19. PRINCESS ALEXANDRA

Alexandra was one of the Queen’s bridesmaids in 1947, and is the second child and only daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Kent – Her Majesty’s first cousin.

20. EDWARD, DUKE OF KENT

Edward is the Queen’s cousin and has dutifully spent his life serving Britain.

21. KATHARINE, DUCHESS OF KENT

Katharine is the wife of Edward, Duke of Kent.

22. PRINCE RICHARD, DUKE OF GLOUCESTER

Richard is the Queen’s first cousin and works full-time for the royal family.

23. BIRGITTE, DUCHESS OF GLOUCESTER

Birgitte is the Duchess of Gloucester and is the patron of a large number of organisations.

24. VISCOUNT LINLEY, EARL OF SNOWDON

Linley is a furniture designer and is the son of Princess Margaret, the Queen’s late sister, and the late photographer Antony Armstrong-Jones, Earl of Snowdon.

25. LADY SARAH CHATTO

Sarah is the daughter of Princess Margaret and the Queen’s only niece.

26. BRIGADIER ARCHIE MILLER-BAKEWELL

Archie was Philip’s right hand man for over a decade as his loyal private secretary and will be one of the few non-royals to attend.

27. EDOARDO MAPELLI MOZZI

The husband of Princess Beatrice will likely be there to support his wife.

28. JACK BROOKSBANK

Proud new father Jack Brooksbank married Eugenie in 2018. Prince Philip made an unexpected appearance on the big day at the last minute. There had previously been fears that he would not be able to attend due to illness.

29. LADY PAMELA HICKS

Lady Pamela, 91, is the daughter of Philip’s uncle and father figure, Earl Mountbatten of Burma, who was killed by an IRA bomb in 1979. Lady Pamela paid tribute to Philip after his death, saying: “(He was) a unique man in every way. There was nobody quite like him.”

 

30. PENELOPE KNATCHBULL

Penelope is the wife of Norton Knatchbull, the third Earl Mountbatten of Burma.
