The Wiggles have issued a statement after two members of the band were featured in a TikTok video dancing with musician Keli Holiday to his new song Ecstasy.
In the clip Blue Wiggle Anthony Field and the Tree of Wisdom could be seen dancing in the background with Keli, and the post was captioned: “The Wiggles get it.”
The chorus of the song goes: “Hey girl, come on dance with me. You and your pocket full of ecstasy.”
The video, which had over 92,000 views, has since been deleted.
A spokesperson for The Wiggles has released a statement saying the group “does not condone” the use of drugs “in any form” and that the video had been created without the band’s approval.
“We understand that a video circulating on social media has caused concern for many parents and professionals, and we want to address that directly,” the statement said.
“The content being shared was not created or approved by us. We have ensured it has been taken down.”
“While Keli Holiday is a friend of The Wiggles, the video and the music added to it were created independently and without our knowledge.”
“Our performance at the TikTok Awards was family-friendly and fun, and this video was edited together separately and without our awareness.”
They also assured that they “value the confidence families place in them” and are “committed creating trusted, positive, and educational experiences for children and families in Australia and around the world.”
