Owen Cooper took home the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie, earning the honour for his role in Netflix’s Adolescence.
The 15-year-old English newcomer triumphed over a strong field that included Javier Bardem (Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story), Rob Delaney (Dying for Sex), Peter Sarsgaard (Presumed Innocent), Bill Camp (Presumed Innocent), and Ashley Walters (Adolescence).
“It says my name on the statue, but it really belongs to all of the people who worked on the show,” Cooper told the audience while accepting the award.
Cooper was recognised for portraying Jamie Miller in Adolescence, a breakout role that propelled him to Emmy history as the youngest male actor ever to win.
His rising career continues with upcoming appearances as Callum in the BBC drama Film Club and as Young Heathcliff in Emerald Fennell’s forthcoming Wuthering Heights adaptation starring Jacob Elordi and Margot Robbie.
