In highly bizarre scenes, protestors in Melbourne demanding an end to coronavirus lockdown have called for Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates to be arrested.
Approximately 100 people attended the protest outside of Victoria’s Parliament House on Sunday to express their anger at the lockdown measures the state has chosen to undertake.
Some held signs reading, “fight for your freedom and rights”. Others protested vaccinations and 5G networks.
The protest also saw people chanting for Bill Gates’ arrest.
Health authorities described the strange scenes as “disappointing”.
Victorian Health Minister Jenny Mikakos said it was “incredibly disappointing that people would be protesting or seeking to suggest we don’t have a pandemic.
“Those people know that this pandemic is not fake news.”
Brendan Murphy also responded to the protestors when asked about them “believing what they read on the internet” and he told reporters “there is unfortunately a lot of very silly misinformation out there.”
“Similarly, I understand people have the right to protest, but they should not be breaching those social distancing rules and if they are, they should be held to account.”
Victoria Police said 10 people were arrested at the protest on Sunday.
