Prince William and Princess Kate may soon be taking a trip Down Under, and this time, they might be visiting with their kids.
The royal couple are reportedly considering a visit to Australia in what would be their first family tour in over a decade. Their last visit was in 2014, when they travelled with eldest son, Prince George, who was just a baby at the time.
Their three-week tour in 2014 included official visits to Sydney, Uluru and Canberra.
This time around, the trip could include Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7, who have never been to Australia.
The news comes after Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese met with King Charles for a 90-minute meeting at Balmoral Castle over the weekend.
During the chat, Albanese extended an open invitation for the Prince and Princess of Wales to visit Australia.
“I’m certainly hoping there will be one, there’s a standing invitation that the royal family are always welcome in Australia,” Albanese told News Corp.
“It was wonderful to welcome King Charles and Queen Camilla to Australia recently, that had a very successful visit and His Majesty is very engaged and I hope that the Prince and Princess of Wales are able to visit as well and we are hopeful that might occur in the coming period.”
According to Sunrise royal editor Rob Jobson, the visit is likely to take place in July or August 2026, during the UK’s summer holidays.
“The period, I think, is probably going to be the summer of the UK when the kids are not in school,” he said on Monday’s program.
“I can’t see William and Kate going down to Australia and leaving the kids behind. Kate hasn’t really done a foreign trip of any significance since 2022. So this is a major trip for her.”
There were plans for a a royal visit in 2020 to meet communities impacted by the devastating 2019–2020 bushfires, but the COVID-19 pandemic ultimately put those plans on hold.
Prince William has previously travelled to Australia on several occasions, including visits in 2010 and 2011 to meet with flood victims in Queensland and Victoria.
His first ever trip was in 1983, when he joined his parents, Prince Charles and Princess Diana, as a nine-month-old baby on their famous tour.
The update on the royal family’s possible visit comes just after Albanese also met with new UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
