An Australian royal tour has been confirmed, with Princess Anne set to visit the country in just a matter of weeks.
The 75-year-old royal will travel to Australia in November for an official four-day tour alongside her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence.
During the visit, The Princess Royal will spend time in New South Wales, Victoria, and Queensland, from Saturday 8 November until Tuesday 11 November.
“The Princess Royal will be visiting Australia in her role as Colonel-in-Chief to the Royal Australian Corps of Signals (RA Sigs), with the visit marking 100 years since the formation of the Corps,” a statement from the Australian Government Defence announcing the official visit read.
The RA Sigs is a unit of soldiers specialising in communications, electronic warfare and cyber capabilities to support military operations.
Since World War II, more than 42,000 RA Sigs personnel have served on operations around the world.
“The Princess Royal has undertaken more than 20 visits to Australia and has maintained a distinguished and enduring association with the Royal Australian Corps of Signals, serving as its Colonel-in-Chief since 1977,” the statement continued.
Princess Anne last visited Australia in September 2022, during a brief three-day trip to Sydney that coincided with the anniversary of her father’s death.
During that visit, she officially opened the Sydney Royal Easter Show, marking the bicentenary of the Royal Agricultural Society of the Commonwealth in her role as patron.
Arriving by horse-drawn carriage, the Princess delivered her first speech on Australian soil, thanking the farming community for its strength and solidarity through years of hardship.
“I’ve seen how the past two years have been really difficult for the agricultural shows,” she told the crowd. “Agricultural shows provide the opportunity for city children to learn about country life.”
Princess Anne made special mention of “the devastation of floods, following the impacts of the global pandemic and the harshness of the most recent drought and bushfires.”
The issue was one close to home for the royal, as Sir Tim’s brother lives in Lismore, the Northern NSW town devastated by the 2022 floods.
Renowned for her no-nonsense approach and dedication to public service, Princess Anne remains one of the hardest-working members of the royal family.
She continues to rank among the most popular royals, with August’s YouGov poll placing her third behind the Prince and Princess of Wales.
That same month, Anne celebrated her 75th birthday, making her one of the oldest active working royals in the House of Windsor.
