Just days after celebrating his big win on the US version of Dancing With The Stars and taking home the coveted mirrorball trophy a decade after his sister Bindi Irwin, Robert Irwin has revealed would love to see his mum, Terri Irwin, 61, take part in the dance competition.

“Listen, the petition to have my mum on Dancing With the Stars has begun, and I started it,” he told The Hollywood Reporter.

“I started this season, and she is firmly like, ‘Nope, I’m not doing it. That’s not for me. And I’m like, ‘well, I’m gonna wear you down,’ so let’s wear her down and get her on there, because I think she would be great.”

Terri made a guest appearance on the show this season, joining Robert during one of his dances as part of dedication night. The mother-son dance moved both the audience and viewers at home.

“The love I have for your family, I’m so proud of you man… the world needs the Irwin family,” judge Derek Hough said following the dance.

Robert also celebrated his 22nd birthday this week, with sweet tributes from both his parents and sister. Terri shared on Instagram: “Happy 22nd birthday @robertirwinphotography! Looking forward to your next year of adventures. Remember to hold on to your friends, and they’ll hold on right back! Love you! 💕”

Bindi posted a nostalgic and affectionate note to her brother, calling him ‘Brian,’ a nickname from their childhood.

“BRIAN!!! Can’t believe you’re already 22. Where does time go?! Love you so much. Being your sister is the best. @robertirwinphotography.”
