A Queensland father has been charged with the murder of his three-week-old son following an 18-month police investigation.

Hank Sherriff, 25, was arrested when police raided a home in Cleveland, Brisbane on Monday morning. He was later charged with murder.

Hank’s son Carter Sherriff was rushed to Queensland Children’s Hospital in a critical condition on July 18, 2024, where he died four days later.

Police allege the infant suffered “internal injuries” at a Greenbank property where Hank was living at the time.

“Detectives undertook an extensive and protracted investigation and recently received results from comprehensive medical examinations, which indicate the child sustained internal injuries,” Queensland Police said.

In the weeks after his son’s death, Hank had posted a tribute on social media saying: “I’ll love you forever my little man no matter what, death shall not make us part.”

The investigation remains ongoing, with the 25-year-old due to face Beenleigh Magistrates Court later this month.
