Eagle-eyed viewers have called out the  Today  show after they aired an embarrassing blunder during Tuesday’s program.

During a segment regarding Sydney’s wet weather, a clip was shown of a wet road with a police officer and his parked Holden Commodore outside a Caltex – which was advertising petrol at 84 cents a litre.

The issue?

Holden Commodores haven’t been used by police since 2004 and the cost of fuel has doubled in price.

The network later confirmed that the footage shown was not recent.

“We used file vision of rain falling in Sydney as the rain hadn’t hit yet and at 5:30 am it was too dark to shoot,” a spokesman told the  Daily Mail.

“Admittedly, it would be wonderful to wake up to petrol prices at 84.9 cents.”
