Jason Donovan has proved he’s a great neighbour to have around after he tackled a fire wearing only his  underpants at a house opposite his London home.

The Aussie actor jumped straight out of bed to help fight the blaze in the exclusive suburb of Notting Hill.

The 51-year-old lives across the road from the burning house and noticed the flames from his property.

When firefighters arrived in the early hours, they discovered the former  Neighbours  star fighting the blaze half naked.

London Fire Brigade took to Twitter to reveal details about the incident, saying that “everyone needs good neighbours”.

“The fire was located in the side passage next to a house and when we arrived a gentleman was tackling the fire using a fire extinguisher,” watch manager Thomas Wolfe said.

“We took over from him and quickly dealt with the blaze.

“It soon transpired that it was Jason Donovan who noticed the fire from his property over the road.”

Donovan also took to Twitter to heap praise on the firefighters.

“Thank you to @LondonFire for getting to the situation so quickly, glad no one was hurt,” he wrote.

“This is a good reason to always wear PJs to bed (in case of emergencies) but much more importantly to have fire extinguishes (sic) at hand in the home.”

The fire was reportedly started by an electrical cabling fault.
