Meghan Markle is set to appear as a guest judge on this year’s season of MasterChef Australia and viewers are divided on how they feel about it.
The Duchess of Sussex filmed the episode this week during her visit Down Under with her husband Prince Harry.
On Wednesday, Channel 10 announced her role on the show and said they were excited to have the “passionate foodie” join them.
“Meghan helps guide some of the most impressive home cooks the competition has ever seen. This is the series of MasterChef you don’t want to miss,” the network said.
The announcement has been met with mixed reactions.
“Are we serious…she’s a home cook,” one person commented on social media.
“For goodness and foodness sake there are better judges,” added another.
“I’m soooo disappointed!! MasterChef was the only ‘reality’ show I enjoyed and respected. All respect has gone out the window – won’t be watching this rubbish,” wrote a third.
However, some viewers were keen to see what the duchess will bring to the table.
“Oh my word. The Princess is so beautiful!!! Go Meghan,” said one viewer.
“Looking forward to this… passionate foodie and health and wellness/intentional living advocate, think she’ll bring such an extra dimension to the table,” commented another.
The show will air from this weekend, with Meghan appearing in an episode alongside judges Poh Ling Yeow, Sofia Levin, and Jean-Christophe Novelli
The 2026 season’s guest lineup will feature other famous faces including Robert Irwin, Jimmy Barnes, Maggie Beer, Curtis Stone, Rick Stein and more.
