Rod Stewart briefly paused a performance in Athens after yelling at a fan he accused of disrupting the show.
The 80-year-old singer was performing Do Ya Think I’m Sexy? at the OAKA Sports Hall in Greece when he stopped the music and addressed the audience member.
Stewart, who was dressed in a suit and holding a football as his backing band played, gestured from the front of the stage before speaking into the microphone.
“Out the f**king way. You’re spoiling the show for everybody. Out the way. Leave. We don’t need you here!
“All she’s doing is putting up a sign. It’s not hurting you is it, mate?”
After addressing the incident, Stewart turned back to his band and resumed the performance, saying, “OK, from the top, where we left off.”
Following the concert, some users on TikTok speculated that Stewart’s frustration may have been influenced by Celtic’s 3–1 loss to St Mirren in the Scottish League Cup Final, though no official connection was confirmed.
Despite the interruption, fans were treated to a full set, with Stewart performing 25 songs including Young Turks, You Wear It Well and Hot Legs. His next performance – and final show before a break until February – is scheduled for Wednesday at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi.
The incident comes during a mixed year for the veteran rockstar.
In June, Stewart delivered a well-received Legends slot at the Glastonbury Festival. However, he was also forced to cancel several shows earlier in the year due to health concerns, withdrawing from six performances as he recovered from flu.
He later returned to the stage, joined by Lulu, Mick Hucknall and Ronnie Wood, for his Glastonbury appearance at Worthy Farm.
Away from music, Stewart celebrated Scotland qualifying for their first FIFA World Cup in 28 years, though he expressed concern about the cost of attending the tournament in the United States next year.
“I find it hard that tickets are going to be selling for £2,000.
“I can’t even afford it.”
Tickets for the final are reportedly already being listed for as much as £33,000.
Stewart has also publicly supported his wife, Penny Lancaster, following the release of her memoir, which includes personal reflections. Speaking ahead of the book’s release, he said, “Wow this is incredible Penny.
“Absolutely blood curdling information in here.”
He then joked, “Oh my God I can’t read it,” before tossing the book into the air and catching it, drawing laughter from Lancaster.
He later added, “No It’s just the best, I’m so proud of her.”
