Buckingham Palace has released the official photograph selected for King Charles and Queen Camilla’s 2025 Christmas card.

The image, unveiled this morning AEDT, was taken earlier this year during the royal couple’s State Visit to Italy.

In a statement, the Palace said, “Buckingham Palace is pleased to release the Christmas card that Their Majesties will be sharing this year to celebrate the festive period.”

According to the Palace, the photograph was captured in the grounds of Villa Wolkonsky in Rome to mark the King and Queen’s 20th wedding anniversary in April.

In the portrait, the Queen is dressed in a white and beige coat dress by Anna Valentine, paired with a Lily of the Valley brooch.

The King is pictured in a blue pin-striped suit with a grey tie.

The couple are smiling with their arms linked, a moment reproduced for the Christmas card.

Inside, the card reads, “Wishing you a very happy Christmas and New Year.”

This Christmas will be the King’s fourth as monarch.

Their Majesties’ first Christmas card as King and Queen in 2022 featured a photograph taken at the Braemar Games in Scotland, just days before the death of Queen Elizabeth.

The 2023 card used a formal portrait from their coronation day, showing the King and Queen in their robes and crowns inside Buckingham Palace’s throne room.

The 2024 Christmas card featured a more relaxed image taken in the Buckingham Palace garden in April of that year.

This year’s photograph was taken by Chris Jackson, a royal photographer for Getty Images and a long-time favourite of the couple.

Jackson also captured the widely recognised portrait released for Charles’ 70th birthday in November 2018, which included the then Prince of Wales, Camilla, Princes William and Harry, their spouses, and the King’s three grandchildren in the garden of Clarence House.

That birthday image was released six months after Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, were married at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, and before the birth of their son, Prince Archie, in May 2019.

It remains one of the few photographs of the entire family together before the couple stepped down as working royals and relocated first to Canada and later the United States, where their daughter Princess Lilibet was born in June 2021.
