KIIS 97.3 has confirmed it will axe its Brisbane breakfast program Robin, Kip & Corey Oates, with the show’s final broadcast set for Friday, December 12.

The decision comes less than a year after former Brisbane Broncos player Corey Oates joined co-hosts Robin Bailey and Kip Wightman, following his retirement from the NRL in 2024.

In a statement, a spokesperson for ARN thanked the trio for their “hard work, creativity, and commitment to the Brisbane audience.”

“Their contribution has been significant and will be celebrated in the weeks ahead,” the statement read.

“In 2026, KIIS 97.3 will launch a new, live and local breakfast show that will be bold, entertaining and fast-moving.”

According to an internal email seen by Mediaweek, the network “can’t reveal details just yet,” but confirmed the new program “will be bold, entertaining, and fast-moving.”

The fresh lineup is expected to be unveiled at ARN’s Upfronts next month.

In a notable twist, the replacement show will not feature network heavyweights Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O Henderson.

Asked whether the Kyle and Jackie O Show would expand to Brisbane following its mixed reception in Melbourne, ARN’s Chief Audience and Content Officer Lauren Joyce told Mediaweek, “Until we can prove their success in Melbourne, we won’t be taking them into Brisbane.”

The comments follow another ratings dip for the pair in Melbourne, where they slipped to eighth place overall.

Earlier this month, the show fell by 0.1 points, trailing behind a competitive lineup including 3AW’s Ross Stevenson and Russel Howcroft (+1.3 to 20.3), GOLD104.3’s Christian O’Connell (+0.8 to 10.9), Fox FM’s Fifi, Fev & Nic (+0.5 to 9.5), Nova’s Jase & Lauren (-1.6 to 8.4), Smooth’s Mike Perso (-0.2 to 7.8), Triple M’s Mick in the Morning with Roo, Titus and Rosie (-0.7 to 7.0), and ABC Melbourne’s Sharnelle Vella and Bob Murphy (+0.9 to 6.4).

The slip pushed The Kyle and Jackie O Show from seventh to eighth position – an outcome likely to sting, given Sandilands’ previous threats to abandon the Melbourne market if the program failed to improve.

In Sydney, however, the duo continue to perform strongly. Sandilands and Henderson posted a 13.6 per cent market share, finishing second behind 2GB breakfast talkback host Ben Fordham, who leads the market with 16.8.
