US influencer James Charles is one of the latest tourists to try the famous snag, making a special stop at a Bunnings store during his trip down under.

“I’m in Australia and apparently I’ve been told I need to try a Bunnings sausage sizzle. I don’t know what the f–k that is, but I’m always down for trying local foods,” the 26-year-old said.

When he arrived at the green tent set up outside the hardware store, he didn’t exactly look impressed.

“I’m literally so confused and I don’t understand why the f–k they’re selling sausages at, like, a hardware store, but I guess we’re going to try this out,” he said.

He then ordered six sausage sizzles with onion and a can of Coke, rounding his total of $31 up to $100 for charity – though it took a bit of back and forth with the volunteer running the payment machine.

Once he saw the classic white bread, sausage and onions combination, he said, “This is just a f–king hot dog.”

He added tomato sauce (which he called “ketchup”) and mustard before taking a bite.

“It’s literally just a hot dog,” he said, before adding, “Honestly, it’s pretty good. I wish the bread was thicker. Like, I need more bread to sausage sizzle ratio.”

Despite the confusion, he gave the sausage sizzle a “solid 10 out of 10”.

Charles also explored the store before picking up a Bunnings straw hat, rating his whole visit a perfect 10.

The video has over four million views, but not everyone was thrilled with his review. Some Aussie fans were quick to defend the national treasure.

“It’s just a hotdog? DUDE SHOW SOME RESPECT TO OUR NATIONAL DISH” one said.

“THAT IS NOT A HOTDOG,” another wrote. Charles replied, “Yes it is,” stirring up even more debate.

TikToker Sophie Begg called the snag “an Aussie delicacy,” while musician and TikToker Peach PRC reminded him the sizzle is “run by locals for charity.”

Other fans were a bit more welcoming.

“thank you for embracing our culture,” one said.

“The most iconic thing you can do in Australia,” added another.

And of course, the requests kept coming.

“james please try vegemite next,” one fan urged — only for Charles to reply, “I already have it’s repulsive 😭”.
