Yanin Campos, a former contestant on MasterChef Mexico, has died following a car crash in her hometown of Chihuahua, Northern Mexico. She was 38.
According to local reports, the cook lost control of her SUV and crashed into a parked car at around 6:30am on Saturday. She was transported to Hospital del Parque, where she died from her injuries on Monday.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Yanin’s brother, Raúl Campos, confirmed her death in a Facebook post: “To family and friends. We inform you and mourn the passing of my sister Yanin Campos.” He invited loved ones to “say goodbye” at a local funeral home later that day.
Yanin rose to fame in 2018 when she placed sixth on MasterChef México, later returning in 2019 for MasterChef: La Revancha to compete against former contestants.
She also built a following on TikTok, where she shared moments from her life with nearly 100,000 fans.
Fans have paid tribute to the former MasterChef Mexico contestant with one writing: “Yanin, it’s not true, you can’t be dead.”
Another wrote: “When I saw the news I thought it was a lie, RIP Yanin.”
“So young rest in peace,” a third wrote.
