Alan Jones hosted his final show on Thursday night after being abruptly let go from Sky News Australia.

The controversial veteran broadcaster gave one last show on the The Alan Jones Program, which has been on the network for 17 months.

Alan’s final words to his audience where fairly tame, given his knack for outbursts, but he made sure to reassure his dedicated viewers he would continue to voice his controversial opinions on social media.

“Thank you to all the Sky News people behind the scenes who have helped,” Jones said.

“Remember, you can still find me on my Facebook page. I ain’t going away. Search Alan Jones Australia.

“Good night, and good health.”

Alan was axed from the network after they chose not to renew his contract.

The 80-year-old reporter was the catalyst for several Sky News Australia videos to be deleted from YouTube over dangerous misinformation about the Covid-19 vaccine.

The network was banned from the video service for several days and was forced to issue a series of apologies and corrections on their segments, which advocated the effectiveness of ivermectin.

Being dumped from Sky News is the not the first time Alan has had to pay for his remarks, as The Daily Telegraph also ended his regular column in July after calling Dr Kerry Chant “a village idiot”, and sharing remarks on state-wide lockdowns.

Alan has repeatedly found himself in hot water over comments he has made during his time in broadcasting, from claiming former PM Julia Gillard’s father “died of shame”because of his daughter’s political “lies” in 2012, to inciting the 2005 Cronulla riots with his on-air contempt for Sydney’s Lebanese Muslim community.

After being axed from Sky News, Alan said he was offered another deal with the network, which he turned down.

A statement published to Sky News Australia on Thursday morning from network CEO Paul Whittaker read: “Regrettably Alan has decided not to accept a new role that was offered to him for next year.

“We respect his decision and know he will be missed by many. Alan has contributed greatly to Sky News Australia over the years, advocating without fear or favour on the issues important to many Australians.

“His compelling commentary and views on the national debate have seen him become one of the country’s most successful and influential broadcasters for close to four decades.

“I’d like to thank Alan for his commendable dedication and service to Sky News. We wish him well.”
