Actress Juliet Godwin, best known for portraying Dr Bree Cameron on Home and Away, has announced her engagement to long-term partner Sam Masters.
The 29-year-old shared the news on Tuesday with a photo of the couple smiling on a beach in Pringle Bay, South Africa, captioned, “October, you were good to us. Here’s to forever, baby.”
The image, which showcased her engagement ring, was met with an outpouring of support from family, friends and Home and Away castmates including Lynne McGranger, Ada Nicodemou and Emily Symons.
Godwin has been with Masters for four years and revealed the pair first met at a party.
“Sam couldn’t resist my awesome ’70s dance moves,” she told Adelaide Now.
“I showed him how good I was at the sprinkler and the rest is history.”
The announcement came just days before viewers watched Godwin’s final appearance on Home and Away, marking the end of her three-year run on the long-running soap.
In Thursday night’s episode, her character, Bree Cameron, bid farewell to Summer Bay after accepting a job with Doctors Without Borders, leaving behind her role at Northern Districts Hospital.
Her departure was particularly emotional for ex-boyfriend Remi Carter, played by Adam Rowland. In their final scenes together, Remi pleaded with Bree not to forget him.
“I could never forget you,” Bree replied.
“You changed my life. Without you, I never would have made it to this point.”
Godwin’s exit storyline concluded a significant chapter for the character, who was at the centre of a powerful domestic abuse narrative.
Meanwhile, the series is set for an explosive end to 2025.
The season finale will see several of Summer Bay’s most beloved residents board a “party train” bound for Off the Rails, a three-day music festival in Broken Hill.
As Remi and Sonny (Ryan Bown) prepare to perform alongside newcomer Eddie Shepherd (Stephen Madsen), celebrations take a dark turn when the train becomes involved in a catastrophic derailment.
A network spokesperson teased that the finale will leave “the fate of some of Summer Bay’s most loved faces hanging in the balance,” promising one of the most dramatic disasters in Home and Away’s 38-year history.
With laughter, love and a surprise proposal preceding the chaos, the final week of Home and Away promises to deliver a devastating cliffhanger – and a shocking end of the line for some.
