The AFL world is mourning alongside the Fevola family after the devastating loss of Alex Fevola’s father, Keith, who passed away last Friday.
Alex, the partner of former AFL star and media personality Brendan Fevola, shared the heartbreaking news in an emotional tribute on social media, describing her father as “indestructible” and “young at heart”.
“A few days ago I lost my Dad,” she wrote. “It has been so difficult to come to terms with. My Dad seemed indestructible, young at heart and full of life. We can’t believe he’s gone. RIP Dad, you will be missed forever, always in my heart.”
Brendan Fevola also expressed his grief, remembering Keith as a man who brought laughter and love into their lives.
“Rest easy, Keith,” he said. “We are going to miss your humour and quick wit. I’m gonna miss having a cold one with you, mate. Most of all the girls will miss the love their granddad gave them, and Alex the love, friendship and trust you both had with each other till the very end – the long chats that ended in laughter. Love ya, mate.”
Alex and Brendan, who divorced in 2014 before rekindling their relationship two years later, share four daughters – Mia, Leni, Lulu and Tobi – with Mia being Brendan’s stepdaughter.
All four girls shared heartfelt messages for their beloved grandfather.
Mia wrote: “On Friday, heaven gained an angel. Rest in peace, granddad, love you forever. Never failed to make us laugh. I’ll miss you coming over with home cooked meals, I’ll miss driving past you on the roads, I’ll miss popping in on the way home, I’ll miss hearing ‘hi love’… I miss you already.”
Leni added simply, “Forever missing you grandad, I love you,” while Lulu wrote, “You’re irreplaceable, I love you so much grandad.”
Messages of love and support have flooded in from friends, fans and members of the wider AFL community.
“Sending our thoughts in a difficult time. He was a great bloke,” one person commented on Fevola’s post, while another wrote, “Sending all my love, my friend. May the waves of grief be gentle on your heart.”
Australian actress Christie Hayes also shared her condolences, writing, “So sorry Fev, love and condolences to your family.”
The Fevola family has long been a beloved part of the AFL community, and as they face this painful loss, tributes continue to pour in, a testament to the love and warmth Keith shared with all who knew him.
