Holly Ramsay has married Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty in a ceremony at Bath Abbey, where family, friends and well-known guests gathered to celebrate the couple’s union on 27 December.
The day included an emotional moment when Gordon Ramsay’s speech moved guests to tears, with his youngest daughter Tilly saying it “made everybody cry.”
Tilly, 24, who was a maid of honour on the day, spoke about the wedding during an appearance on ITV’s This Morning.
“It was so, so emotional, but incredible to see her and Adam so happy. And yeah, it was a big day for all of us,” she said.
When asked whether she helped her father prepare his speech, she explained how carefully he worked on it ahead of the ceremony.
“Absolutely. Honestly, I think it was Christmas Eve. I was sat in his room for an hour as he was just reading through it. It was just like going through everything, but no tweaks were needed. It was perfect. It made everybody cry.”
Ramsay, 59, also reflected on the experience of giving the speech as a father of three daughters.
“I mean, being a dad with three daughters, you dream of that moment. That moment arrives and, yeah, you’re just like a hot mess. But the speech was perfect. It went well, and it was just… you’ve got to be warm, emotional, yeah, it’s just a tough gig.”
The ceremony held at Bath Abbey brought together family, friends and well-known guests including Sir David Beckham and Lady Victoria Beckham, amid reports of tensions within the Peaty family, with Peaty’s parents absent from the event.
After the ceremony, Holly changed into her mother’s 1996 wedding gown for the reception at Kin House, arriving to Abba’s Take A Chance On Me. Ramsay joked about the outfit change.
“I mean, honestly, it was a bit of a shock because she had it on for the majority of the night. I don’t know why you need to change three times.”
Holly told Vogue that her dress was inspired by Grace Kelly and the Princess of Wales.
She carried a bouquet of white ranunculus and was joined by her sisters Megan and Tilly as maids of honour, along with Peaty’s sister Bethany as a bridesmaid. The bridal party wore red silk maxi dresses designed by family friend Lady Beckham.
The couple announced their engagement in September 2024 after Peaty proposed during a holiday in Crete. Since the wedding, both have updated their Instagram usernames to @AdamRamsayPeaty and @HollyRamsayPeaty.
Holly has since shared a few photos from her wedding, with Gordon sharing his joy in the comments saying: “Perfect wedding and such wonderful guests to witness your beautiful wedding congratulations to you both,” alongside a red heart emoji.
