Lydia Williams and her partner have welcomed their first child together.

The 37-year-old former Matildas player shared the update on Instagram over the weekend, sharing a photo of their newborn bub.

“Welcome to the world,” the caption read.

Williams also shared a photo of herself before she gave birth, and revealed her baby’s name, Coen Ronald Anne Williams, with Coen meaning “thunder” for some Indigenous Australians.

The notoriously private athlete did not share her baby’s gender.

Fellow athletes and her former Matildas teammates shared their well-wishes in the comments.

“Congratulations to you and your family Lydia! Welcome to the world, little baby Coen,” commented the official Matildas account.

“So cute Lyds 🥹 congrats to you both!!!” Mackenzie Arnold wrote.

Katrina Gorry commented “congratulations,” alongside heart-eye emojis.

Sam Kerr and Allana Kennedy also congratulated the couple.

Williams announced that she was expecting last August, sharing a photo of her dog Caviar with ultrasound photos taped to his collar.

“Incoming! Caviar has some news. Human sibling coming soon,” she shared at the time.

The pregnancy announcement came over a year after the goalkeeper announced her retirement from the Matildas. She played for Melbourne Victory and is a proud Indigenous woman.
