Australian actress Christie Hayes has announced the arrival of her baby daughter, sharing the news after a long and emotional IVF journey.
Hayes and her husband, radio personality Justin Coombes-Pearce, welcomed their bub this week, marking a joyful milestone for their family.
Best known for her role on Home and Away, Hayes revealed the birth on Instagram, introducing her daughter Marigold “Goldie” May with an adorable photo and heartfelt message.
She said she and Coombes-Pearce are “utterly in love.”
“We are the happiest parents (and aunts, cousins, brothers, Grandparents) in the world.” she wrote.
“We wished and prayed for her for so many years, and were taught that love and belief really is the answer.”
Hayes, who moved from acting to radio in 2022, has spoken openly about her experience with IVF.
She has detailed the four-year process on her show Dan and Christie, acknowledging how difficult it was at times and admitting there were moments she “didn’t think it would work out.”
“You never think it’s going to when you’re doing IVF. That’s the thing, you’re in such a painful time that you can’t see it working out, but sometimes it does.”
Hayes also shared that she and Coombes-Pearce experienced a miscarriage during one of their four IVF attempts. Ultimately, their fourth attempt – coinciding with their fourth year of marriage – was successful.
Fellow Aussie actress Teresa Palmer, who welcomed her own baby girl earlier this year, congratulated Hayes online.
“Welcome Marigold, she is PERFECT” the A Discovery of Witches star wrote.
Coombes-Pearce posted his own tribute on Instagram, saying:, “from the moment I saw her… held her… kissed her I realised the love I feel for this little angel is far too great to put into words.”
The newborn is the couple’s first child together.
Hayes also has two sons, Hendrix and Harley, from her previous marriage to Daniel White.
The pair, who were married for three years, kept their separation private for the sake of their children, eventually confirming it publicly in 2019.
Hayes married Coombes-Pearce in 2021.
