Dolly Parton’s family has asked fans around the world to send prayers and support as the country music legend faces a mysterious health issue.
The request comes just a week after Dolly, 79, postponed six shows from her upcoming tour.
Her younger sister Freida Parton, 68, shared an emotional message on Facebook on October 7, revealing she had spent the night praying for her sister’s health.
“Last night, I was up all night praying for my sister, Dolly,” she wrote.
“Many of you know she hasn’t been feeling her best lately. I truly believe in the power of prayer, and I have been led to ask all of the world that loves her to be prayer warriors and pray with me.”
“She’s strong, she’s loved,” Freida continued. “And with all the prayers being lifted for her, I know in my heart she’s going to be just fine. Godspeed, my sissy Dolly. We all love you!”
Dolly recently announced that she would need to postpone her Las Vegas shows, which was set to run this December to September next year, as she’s required to undergo multiple health procedures.
“As many of you know, I have been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures,” Parton explained in an Instagram post.
In her usual light-hearted tone, she joked: “I guess it’s time to take better care of myself. It’s just my 100,000-mile check-up! Don’t worry, it’s not my usual trip to see my plastic surgeon.”
While she’s stepping back for now, Parton made it clear that she is not retiring from music or the spotlight.
“Don’t worry about me quittin’ the business because God hasn’t said anything about stopping yet,” she said, in the Instagram post at the time.
Fans were quick to send their love and well-wishes in Freida’s post, with one writing:
“Dolly is a strong woman. Her life is very much private. You know it is dire when family start asking for prayers. I love her very dearly. I hope she starts to feel better soon. We need and want her,” one fan wrote.
“Praying so hard for Miss Dolly,” another commented.
“Sending prayers, love and healing vibes to sweet Dolly,” a third wrote.
