The Victorian press conference appeared to turn tense after Daniel Andrews was less than polite towards a reporter when asked about former health minister Jenny Mikakos.
Ms Mikakos claimed in a now deleted post to Twitter that members of Mr Andrews’ staff had “trolled” her for being critical of the premier since her resignation.
However, when the premier was probed about the situation, he labelled her words as “nonsense” and said he was too busy to “waste his time” thinking about it.
“You heard what I said before. It is nonsense. I probably can’t be any clearer than that,” he told one journalist who continued to question the politician.
He was also asked if he was concerned about Ms Mikakos’ comments.
“This is not a concern to me at all,” Mr Andrews said, before adding “I’ve answered your question” as the journalist started to speak again.
The reporter then asked if the premier thought Ms Mikakos’ claims were made up.
“You heard what I said before. It is nonsense. I probably can’t be any clearer than that,” Mr Andrews said.
“My staff work very hard for the people of Victoria. They’re not involved in that sort of nonsense. And any suggestion that they are is plainly wrong.”
The tense conference follows after Mr Andrews announced that two adults would be able to visit another home from 11.59 pm on Tuesday.
Until the 25km radius is lifted on November 8, these visits will have to occur within that radius.
Many the city’s other tough restrictions will also ease from 11.59 pm on Tuesday.
