A bride and groom have been left stranded after their wedding car was involved in a crash with another vehicle in Melbourne’s northeast on Thursday afternoon.

The collision happened just before 3pm near the intersection of Diamond Creek Road and Aqueduct Road, interrupting what should have been one of the happiest days of their lives.

It is still unclear whether the couple were heading to their ceremony or leaving it, and police have not yet confirmed what caused the crash.

Emergency services rushed to the scene, with paramedics assessing both vehicles after one car was left on its side. Ambulance Victoria said no one required emergency treatment or transport to the hospital.

The newlyweds were seen standing together on the roadside, visibly shaken but supporting each other as firefighters and police worked to secure the area.

Authorities are expected to release more details once the circumstances of the collision have been confirmed.
