Bindi Irwin has shared a heartfelt tribute to her husband Chandler Powell as the couple celebrate 12 years since the day they first met.

Chandler, a former professional wakeboarder, was visiting Australia for a competition when he met Bindi as a teenager, and the pair have been together ever since.

Marking the special day, Bindi posted two photos with her husband on Instagram, with Chandler holding Bindi in his arms, moments before she joined her brother Robert on stage for his Dancing With The Stars performance this week.

“Twelve years ago I met the man of my dreams,” she wrote. “Chandler, my heart is yours.

“Always and forever.”

Chandler replied in the comments, saying: “And my heart is yours. I love you so much.”

Fans took to the comments to share their support for the couple, with one person writing: “You cuties! This is giving storybook magic like the kind of couple everyone roots for.”

“Can’t believe it’s been 12 years, you were born for each other,” another commented.

“It’s amazing how much you two love each other other,” a third added.

Bindi and Chandler first met in November 2013, when she was 15 and he was 17.

After she gave him and his family a tour of Australia Zoo, Chandler asked Bindi’s mum, Terri Irwin, if he could stay in touch. They stayed in a long-distance relationship while he attended college in Florida and she remained in Australia, and in July 2015 Bindi shared her first post about him after he joined Australia Zoo’s Wildlife Warriors team.

They made their relationship public ten years ago, when Bindi was competing on Dancing With The Stars, and on November 14, 2015 the couple made it Instagram official with Bindi sharing a birthday post praising Chandler as her inspiration.

She also thanked him for “the endless hugs” and “late-night conversations about life.”

Chandler moved to Australia in January 2018, proposed the following year in July, and the pair married in a small ceremony at Australia Zoo on March 25, 2020 due to Covid restrictions.

A few months later they announced they were expecting their first child, who arrived on their one year wedding anniversary.
