Music legend Barry Manilow has postponed more performances of his Las Vegas residency following a recent health scare.
The 82-year-old announced on Wednesday that his shows scheduled for February 12–21 in Las Vegas would be postponed on his “doctor’s guidance and recommendation”.
Manilow recently underwent successful surgery for lung cancer and said he needs additional time to recover.
“I’m doing great and recovering very well after my surgery,” he said in a health update.
“I’ve been getting exercise and spending some time in the studio, which has been fantastic.
“I can stay focused on healing and getting ready for the tour that’s kicking off at the end of February. Having a few extra weeks to rest and prepare is what the doctor ordered!”
The postponed Las Vegas shows at Westgate will be rescheduled to a later date.
Manilow confirmed in December that he had been diagnosed with lung cancer and had surgery to remove a “cancerous spot”. He said the cancer was detected early and would not require chemotherapy or radiation.
“Just chicken soup and I Love Lucy reruns,” he said at the time.
He had already postponed January performances in Florida, South Carolina and Georgia to allow time for recovery.
Despite the delays, Manilow’s upcoming tour remains scheduled to include what have been described as his “final” performances at several venues in New York, including appearances in Belmont Park, Albany and Buffalo in April.
“Be there to witness, feel, and be a part of the last concert in your city!” a tour announcement said.
Manilow’s career spans more than seven decades. He has sold more than 85 million records worldwide and is known for hits including Copacabana (At the Copa), Mandy, Can’t Smile Without You, I Write the Songs and Looks Like We Made It.
He also played a major role in shaping American popular culture through his work on advertising jingles, writing some of the most recognisable commercial songs of the 20th century.
Manilow began his career in the mid-1960s while working in the CBS mailroom, earning the nickname the “piano-playing mail boy”, before achieving major success as a performer, songwriter and producer.
His accolades include multiple No. 1 singles, six multi-platinum albums, a Tony Award, two Emmy Awards and induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
