Politician Barnaby Joyce continues to make his stance on the decriminalisation of the abortion bill in NSW known as he said that pro-choice activists said “throw the foetus in the bin” while protesting.
He repeated the claims to Sunrise.
“The pro-side is walking down the street saying ‘we will fight, we will win, throw the foetus in the bin’. It just feels evil.”
However, there is video footage posted by Joyce himself proving that the protesters are chanting “put the bigots in the bin”.
Joyce also links to a video posted by LifeChoice Australia, where you can hear the protesters chanting.
Despite the captions on the video saying “Put the foetus in the bin”, if you listen closely, they are chanting “put the bigots in the bin”.
Women who attended the protest told Buzzfeed News that the chant was misquoted.
“The chant was ‘we will fight, we will win, put the bigots in the bin’,” Sydney woman Chloe Barron said.
“The word foetus was not used,” she said. “It never left my mouth and I didn’t hear it once.”
