Hollywood star Nicole Kidman has shared an emotional tribute to her late mother, remembering her on what would have been her birthday.

The Oscar-winning actress, 58, posted a touching throwback photo on March 13 dedicated to her mum, Janelle Ann Kidman, who died in September 2024 at the age of 84.

In the image, the star – known for films such as Moulin Rouge! and Eyes Wide Shut – appears with her signature red hair, smiling warmly beside her mother.

“Remembering my Mumma on her birthday. Always in my heart Mumma,” Kidman wrote alongside the post, which quickly drew thousands of supportive messages from fans.

Among those offering their love was Kidman’s longtime friend and fellow actress Reese Witherspoon, who commented simply: “Your angel mama <3”.

The tribute carries extra poignancy for the Australian star, who has now lost both of her parents. Her father, psychologist and academic Antony Kidman, died suddenly in Singapore in September 2014.

Last year, Kidman honoured both of them in another emotional Instagram message marking her mother’s birthday.

“Missing Mumma and Papa so much on what would have been her birthday today,” she wrote at the time.

The remembrance comes during what has been a difficult period for the actress. Earlier this year it was reported that Kidman and her husband, country music star Keith Urban, had finalised their divorce after 19 years of marriage.

The couple first met in 2005 at a G’Day LA event before marrying the following year in a ceremony in Manly.

Despite the personal challenges, Kidman’s tribute shows that the bond with her mother remains close to her heart – and that memories of “Mumma” are never far away.
