Tommy Lee Jones has spoken publicly following the death of his daughter, Victoria Jones.
The actress was reportedly found unresponsive in a hallway at the San Francisco Fairmont hotel shortly after 3am on January 1, according to NBC Bay Area and AreaTMZ.
Jones, 79, addressed the loss in a statement to E! News on January 2, saying, “We appreciate all of the kind words, thoughts, and prayers.
“Please respect our privacy during this difficult time.”
The San Francisco Fire Department was called to the hotel at 2.52am for a medical emergency. Paramedics declared the woman dead at the scene at 3.14am, the New York Post reported.
Investigators told local media that no foul play is suspected. Police are continuing to investigate.
Jones is best known for his roles in The Fugitive, Men in Black, Lonesome Dove and Batman Forever.
Victoria Jones made her acting debut in Men in Black II before appearing in One Tree Hill and The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada, which was directed by her father.
In a 2006 interview with The New Yorker, Jones spoke about his daughter’s abilities, saying, “She’s a good actress, has her SAG card, speaks impeccable Spanish.
“When she was a baby, I told Leticia, her nurse, to speak to her in Spanish.”
Victoria Jones is the daughter of Jones and his second wife, Kimberlea Cloughley.
He was previously married to Kate Lardner from 1971 to 1978 and later married Dawn Laurel in 2001.
