One brave mum has officially broken the internet – and possibly her spine – after revealing just how large her newborn baby was.
Shelby Martin, a mum from the US, stunned social media with a now-viral post featuring her son, Cassian, who apparently skipped newborn status and went straight to “toddler who pays taxes.”
Shelby uploaded a series of photos to social media, starting with herself in a hospital gown, proudly showing off a baby bump so big it may qualify for its own ZIP code.
“When people talk about having a big baby, like I don’t know ball,” she wrote.
“But trust me… I know ball.”
And she wasn’t kidding.
The next photo revealed baby Cassian in all his post-birth glory – a glorious chunk weighing in at a casual 5.8 kilograms, or as doctors call it: “Oh no.”
Even hospital staff were left gobsmacked, declaring Cassian the biggest baby born in the last three years – and presumably the only one eligible to join Little Athletics straight from the maternity ward.
To make the occasion even more iconic, Cassian arrived on his mum’s birthday, which Shelby declared was her “greatest gift.” (We can only assume cake portions were doubled that day.)
His birth made it all the way to American news channel WSMV, and Shelby called it her “greatest gift,” which is beautiful and brave, considering the gift came with shoulders the size of dinner plates.
The TikTok documenting the saga racked up 35 million views, with over 50,000 people flocking to the comments section in a mix of admiration, shock, and mild second-hand trauma.
One user wrote, “I usually don’t advocate for ‘push presents’, but girl, you better demand EVERYTHING.”
Another asked the important logistical questions, “Did he drive y’all home afterwards?”
“Congratulations, but like are you OK?” wrote a third.
“Please tell me you did a C-section,” begged another.
“How did they get him out?” wondered one more.
And perhaps the most relatable response of all, “Absolutely horrifying, thank you.”
