Kevin Costner has been warmly welcomed by fans in Brisbane, where the Hollywood star has been spotted during filming for his new movie, Honeymoon With Harry.

The 71-year-old actor was seen walking through Merthyr Village in New Farm, stopping to take photos with excited locals who were thrilled to see him in person.

Costner is in Queensland shooting the film alongside Jake Gyllenhaal and Sarah Pidgeon.

Among the local businesses to share his visit was Perrotts Florists, which posted a photo on Instagram with the playful caption: “Seems like we have a new bodyguard at our New Farm store! I think Sheyda is in good hands.”

New Farm Deli also shared a snap with the Yellowstone star, writing: “Nothing to see here, just two hyped fans and a very cool @kevincostner.

“Needless to say, the deli was thrilled to have Kevin dine with us yesterday.”

During his time in Brisbane, Costner has also visited the well-known James St shopping precinct and attended the AFL clash between the Brisbane Lions and Carlton at The Gabba last week.

He was shown on the big screen during the third quarter, with commentator Brian Taylor quickly recognising him.

Taylor said: “There’s Kevin Costner, bit of Hollywood royalty. Doesn’t get much bigger than Kevin Costner.”

Honeymoon With Harry is being filmed across Brisbane and the Whitsundays.

According to Screen Queensland, “During production, Honeymoon With Harry will contribute an estimated $51 million to the state’s economy and employ 215 people, as well as showcasing our state as a tourism destination to audiences around the world.”

The film centres on a rough-edged man, played by Gyllenhaal, who is forced into an unexpected trip with his fiancee’s difficult and fiercely protective father, played by Costner, after a major twist derails their plans.

Set against the backdrop of an island honeymoon, the emotional dramedy follows the pair as they argue and butt heads before slowly discovering an unlikely connection.

Producer Mike Karz said: “We are thrilled to bring Honeymoon With Harry to Queensland.

“The state’s diverse locations and incredible natural beauty offer an ideal backdrop for our film, and we’re having a great time collaborating with talented local creatives and crew to bring this story to life.”
