A worker at Bunnings has revealed a little-known feature that could help customers find items faster and make shopping less stressful.
Like many large retailers, Bunnings uses aisle numbers to group products into categories. But there is another system in place that many shoppers may not notice, “bay numbers”, which pinpoint the exact location of an item within an aisle.
Mitchell Mclean, Bunnings’ DIY expert, said the feature can be especially useful for customers short on time.
“Bay locations are really easy to find, both in the Bunnings app and on the Bunnings website,” he said.
“It’s certainly something that can make the journey in a Bunnings store much easier for customers.”
He explained that while aisle numbers are familiar to most shoppers, they can still leave people searching through long rows of products. Bay numbers narrow that down further.
Each aisle is divided into smaller sections, marked by stickers on the columns. These show the bay number, helping identify exactly where an item is placed.
On one side of the aisle, the bay numbers are odd. On the other, they are even. The full location code combines both the aisle and bay number.
“If you search for a product and pop in your local store, you’ll find in the app that not only will it tell you what aisle it’s in and the bay that it’s in,” Mclean said.
“It’ll also give you an interactive store map, which shows you exactly where the product is located in the store.”
For example, a product listed as Aisle 50, Bay 13 would be found on the left-hand side, around the middle of that aisle.
Customers can also use the store maps available on the Bunnings website or app to guide them directly to the item, offering a more straightforward way to navigate larger stores.
