As the weather cools, Australians have revealed their favourite frozen meat pies, with a mix of budget buys and classic brands making the list.
A new survey by Canstar Blue, based on feedback from 593 shoppers, ranked the country’s top supermarket pies, based on various factors including taste, variety, packaging, satisfaction, value for money and more.
In sixth place was Woolworths’ home brand pies, followed by Coles in fifth.
Coming in fourth was Mrs Mac’s, which earned four stars for taste, variety and packaging, and three stars for overall satisfaction and value for money.
Budget-friendly option Elmsbury, sold at Aldi, took third place, scoring five stars for value for money, along with strong ratings for overall satisfaction and packaging.
In second place was Herbert Adams, which stood out for taste with a five-star rating, though it scored lower on value for money.
Taking the top spot was Patties, named Australia’s favourite frozen meat pie brand for overall satisfaction.
Available at major supermarkets including Coles, Woolworths and IGA, Patties also earned five stars for its recognisable blue packaging, along with four stars for taste, value, variety and range.
The brand offers a range of frozen favourites, including party pies, sausage rolls and pasties, with options such as 24-pack party pies and mixed packs.
The results come as more Australians turn to frozen foods to save money at the checkout.
According to Canstar, shoppers can cut costs by more than 50 per cent on some items by switching from fresh to frozen, with potential savings of up to $675 a year, particularly on out-of-season fruit and vegetables.
The survey also looked beyond pies, with Coles’ Vegetable Spring Rolls ranked as the top frozen party food, followed by McCain’s P!ckers range and Four ‘N Twenty.
