Piers Morgan’s live interview with a controversial influencer came to an abrupt end on Wednesday night, as the broadcaster stormed off his own show.
Morgan was about 15 minutes into an interview with 24-year-old influencer Harrison Sullivan, when the conversation came to an end after Sullivan mocked the broadcaster’s wife, Celia Walden.
Sullivan was one of several influencers profiled in Louis Theroux’s new documentary Inside the Manosphere on Netflix, which investigates controversial influencers with an “ultra-masculine” mindset.
The interview was already a bit tense, as Morgan confronted the streamer for his “brazenly homophobic” views after the 24-year-old admitted he would “disown” his son if he was gay.
Sullivan responded by accusing Morgan of befriending late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, saying: “What I do with my children is up to me … I don’t agree with you going to Epstein’s island and having freak offs with Ghislaine Maxwell and the rest of them.”
Morgan denied his claims, saying: “I never met the man, never went to his island. I met Ghislaine Maxwell for five minutes.”
The broadcaster’s patience was running thin, when Sullivan brought up a photo that Morgan’s wife posted in 2022, with the caption “Wanted: Pool Boy. Applications now open.”
At the time, Morgan quipped in the comments: “Warning to applicants: like the pool, HIGH MAINTENANCE.”
Sullivan showed off the photos to the camera, prompting Morgan to say he was acting like a two-year-old.
“Here is what I think about you. I watched the documentary, and I think you’re a f**king idiot,” said Morgan.
“I think you’re a sexist, misogynist, homophobic twerp who got exposed in a global way by Netflix, by Louis Theroux, for what you are. You’re a little halfwit.”
Things escalated and Sullivan snapped back saying: “Listen, sir, I don’t know why you come on and talk like you’re holier than thou.
“As soon as you’re away — what is this? Applications are open? That’s your ting, bro. That’s your girl.”
Morgan had enough and declared: “Alright, let’s end it. Let’s end this. Let’s end this, please,” before storming off the set.
“You know what? I’m not doing this. Sorry guys. It’s pointless,” the broadcaster said as he left.
Sullivan, who was livestreaming the interview on his channel, could be seen cracking up as he said: “Tell him to come back on and we’ll chill out.”
The British influencer has over 200,000 followers on a Kick, a live streaming platform 305,000 on Instagram, and 175,000 on TikTok. He initially built a following through fitness content, before moving to cryptocurrency.
The UK’s Financial Conduct Authority has warned people against Sullivan’s crypto-scheme saying: “You should avoid dealing with this firm and beware of scams. This firm is not authorised by us and may be targeting people in the UK.”
