Carrie Bickmore has drawn mixed reactions online after wearing an outfit some social media users labelled “too revealing” while attending a friend’s wedding in regional Victoria.

The 45-year-old Hit Network host attended the wedding of radio newsreader Jesse Watkins at Cleveland Estate, about an hour north of Melbourne, over the weekend.

After sharing a series of photos from the event, showing a champagne-coloured two-piece outfit, some of Bickmore’s almost 800,000 followers questioned whether the look was appropriate for a wedding setting.

“You look stunning!! But I would have chosen a different colour for a wedding,” wrote one commenter.

“Yeah, it looks like she tried to look better than the bride, and the skin cut outs a bit much,” agreed another.

As one bluntly claimed: “It’s a bit too revealing for a wedding too.”

“Hope the bride was OK with your sexy bride coloured dress,” wrote a fourth.

“She certainly looks stunning but I hope the bride didn’t mind sharing the limelight,” added one more.

Wearing white, or very light colours that are similar, to a wedding has long been considered poor etiquette by some, with critics arguing it can distract attention from the bride on her wedding day.

Bickmore’s outfit was a ruffled halter-neck top with an asymmetric hemline, paired with a matching wraparound skirt, from Australian “wearable art” brand Koster Kulture, created by designer Yasmin Köster.

“This set is @kosterkulture I saw it on a beautiful girl on New Year’s Day and asked what it was and stole her look,” Bickmore captioned the photos.

Despite the criticism, the television and radio host was largely praised by followers, with many focusing on the overall look rather than the setting.

“Divine,” noted one, while another simply wrote: “Love.”

“You really do look amazing,” said another.

One commenter added: “Farkn hell, I’m done,” followed by flame emojis.

“Gorgeous as always,” wrote one follower, while another said: “Breathtaking – that colour is EVERYTHING.”

Several others described Bickmore as “beautiful” and said the outfit “looked so good” on her.

Photos from the event also showed Bickmore’s Carrie & Tommy Show co-host Tommy Little in attendance, with the pair posing together, prompting one fan to comment: “Just get it together you two, please!!”

Another asked: “Is it legal to look that good as a guest at a wedding?”
