Australia has a new national sweetheart, and she’s already hung up her Bunnings apron. Nineteen-year-old Alyssa Delpopolo has officially sung her way into the country’s collective heart (and probably a few playlists) after being crowned winner of The Voice 2025 on Sunday night.

In a grand final bursting with female power, plus enough high notes to make glassware nervous, the Sydney music student out-sang Cle Morgan, Bella Parnell and Cassie Henderson to take the title. Alyssa sealed the deal with a powerhouse rendition of Celine Dion’s It’s All Coming Back To Me Now, followed by a stunning duet with her coach, Kate Miller-Heidke, on Selena Gomez’s Lose You To Love Me.

After Sonia Kruger’s dramatic pause (a national sport by this point), the moment came – and Alyssa’s life changed instantly. “I’m definitely quitting Bunnings,” she told PerthNow with the giddy confidence of someone who’s just traded the paint aisle for pop stardom.

With $100,000 in prize money and a recording development package in hand, Alyssa’s already dreaming big: an album, solo shows and maybe, if the universe is fair, her own parking spot at the ARIAs.

Her rise is as unlikely as it is inspiring: the youngest finalist in the lineup, Alyssa wasn’t even meant to compete. She was plucked from the audience after Miller-Heidke overheard her singing, proving once and for all that sometimes the best seat in the house is on the stage.

As for her debut single? Alyssa’s keeping it mysterious, saying only that the word “cruel” features heavily, which should make for great radio and even better revenge.

From aisle five to centre stage, Alyssa Delpopolo’s journey is a reminder that dreams really can come true… especially if you can hit a Celine note and remember to hand in your Bunnings badge.
