Australian TV icon Sonia Kruger has rung in her 60th birthday with style, humour and plenty of champagne.

The Dancing With The Stars host stunned fans on Thursday after sharing a glamorous photoshoot from Sydney’s Sofitel hotel to mark the occasion. Kruger posed with six giant balloons in a chic black mini dress, before switching into another elegant look overlooking Darling Harbour. She later slipped into a sleek jumpsuit and sunglasses, flashing a wide smile as she toasted the milestone with bubbles.

“Level 6 unlocked! The higher you go, the better the champagne tastes,” she quipped in her post.

Famous friends were quick to flood her comments with love. Dannii Minogue called her “stunning,” Ricki-Lee Coulter wished her a “happy birthday, gorgeous one,” and DWTS judge Sharna Burgess admitted: “I would like to be you when I grow up.”

Ahead of her big day, Kruger reflected on her approach to ageing gracefully, crediting humour, regular exercise and balance as her best-kept secrets. “You’ve got to be able to have a good laugh with friends and family – it really is the best medicine,” she said, adding that her dance fitness app, Strictly You, helps keep her active.

While she admitted she once hesitated about making her age public, Kruger now embraces being part of what she calls the “60s club”, alongside stars like Elle Macpherson, Brooke Shields and Liz Hurley – plus “a bit older” members Brad Pitt and George Clooney.

Far from slowing down, Kruger said she has no plans to retire from the spotlight just yet, with ambitions to continue working both on-screen and behind the scenes mentoring young talent.

“I want to stay as strong as I can for as long as I can,” she said. “Most of all, I want to enjoy my life – and have a good time.”
