A list of baby names have made it into the Australian top 100 for 2019, including Sadie, Hallie, Hamish and River.

Baby Centre compiled data and discovered a number of unique monikers that were popular with parents this year.

And despite Amelia, Isla, Charlotte, Oliver, Noah and Leo topping the list for favourite baby girl and boy names, it looks like parents are taking the more unconventional path when it comes to naming their child.

New entries Hallie, Sadie and Nora made the list, along with Eden, Lara, Everly and Maggie.

For boys, the most popular names include Kobe, River, Miles, Christian, Leon and Mateo, with Felix and Luke making a comeback after two years.

And reappearing on the list for 2019 was Hamish, Owen, Dominic, Fletcher, Phoenix and Alex.

The name Oliver has topped the boys list for the eighth consecutive year.

“This year’s list reflects how fickle Australian parents can be in their choices,” the website states.

“Alexis and Thea fell the most dramatically, once again dropping out of favour with parents after being super-hot last year.”

The collected data revealed that names starting with the letter L are extremely popular among parents, including Leo, Lucas and Luca which all made the top 10.

“L names are in vogue. Leo finally cracked the top five, Lucas returned to the top five after a two-year absence, and cousin Luca charged into the top 10 for the first time,” BabyCenter said.
