It’s official – Queensland’s hard border has come crashing down to all residents in NSW and Victoria.

And one person who can’t wait to pay a visit to the Sunshine State is Karl Stefanovic.

This morning, Gold Coast mayor Tom Tate personally invited the 46-year-old and his family to Queensland.

“I can tell you, Karl, it’s 20 degrees in the water. Bring your bucket, spade and Harper and  we will look after you,” Mr Tate said from Surfers Paradise.

Stefanovic immediately took Mr Tate up on the offer, saying he was looking forward to it.

“We just got a little floaty for her the other day, we are really looking forward to it,” he said.

“We can’t wait to sink our toes into the sand there. It has been a difficult few months.”

Stefanovic welcomed his daughter  Harper with wife Jasmine Yarbrough, also a Queenslander, on May 1.

Stefanovic’s mother, Jenny, recently drove 2,500 kilometres from Cairns to Sydney, just  so she could meet her granddaughter.
