The bombshell Meghan and Harry interview with Oprah has finally aired and the world has erupted in shock.

Not only has Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle opened up about royal family feuds, their decision to leave the royal family and the inner workings of The Firm – the couple have also revealed some  horrific details surrounding their son, Archie.

To kick things off, Meghan officially revealed while sitting  alongside her husband Prince Harry that they were indeed expecting a baby girl in the “summertime” (our  winter).

However, not even that blissful baby news was enough to sustain the joyful feelings for long, as it was  quickly  overshadowed by comments made about their son Archie.

Meghan told Winfrey that when she was first pregnant with her first child, there were “concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he’s born”.

“They didn’t want him to be a prince or princess, not knowing what the gender would be, which would be different from protocol, and that he wasn’t going to receive security,” said Meghan.

“In those months when I was pregnant, all around this same time, so we have in tandem the conversation of, ‘you won’t be given security, not going to be given a title’, and also concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he’s born.”

Meghan also revealed that her sister-in-law, Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge had made her cry right before her and Harry’s wedding in 2018.

Meghan recalled a news article that had been written at the time saying that  she’d made Kate cry and rejected it, saying that instead the “reverse happened”.

“A few days before the wedding, she [Catherine] was upset about something — yes, the issue was correct, about the flower girl dresses — and it made me cry. And it really hurt my feelings,” Meghan said.

She said Duchess Catherine had apologised to her and sent flowers.

“I’m not sharing that piece about Kate in any way to be disparaging to her. I think it’s important people understand the truth,” she said.

The Duchess also revealed she and Harry had secretly married three days before their big televised royal wedding, without family and only with the Archbishop of Canterbury present.

She said the public royal wedding felt like an “out-of-body experience”.

“I think we were both really aware, even in advance of that, that this wasn’t our day, this was the day that was planned for the world.”

The royal also admitted she did not have enough understanding of the royal family or what exactly she was marrying into.

“I will say I went into it naively, because I didn’t grow up knowing much about the royal family,” Meghan said.

The Duchess clarified that she was not being paid for her interview with Winfrey.

Prince Harry also made his own revelations, saying Prince Charles had stopped taking his calls.

He also told Winfrey his entire family had cut him off except for his grandmother, The Queen.

Harry said he would not have stepped back from the royal family had it not been for Meghan, because “I was trapped but didn’t know I was trapped”.

He went on to say his father’s treatment of him, Meghan and Archie had especially upset him due to the similar experience he’d had with the late Princess Diana.

“I feel really let down because [my father] has been through something similar,” Harry said.

“He knows what the pain feels like. I will always love him but there’s a lot of hurt that’s happened.

“My family literally cut me off financially, but I’ve got what my mum left me and without that we would not have been able to do this.”

Prince Harry also clarified that his family had not been “blindsided” by Megxit, staying that he had spoke with royal members before the couple announced their intention to step down.

“I had three conversations with my grandmother, and two conversations with my father before he stopped taking my calls,” he said.

“And then he said, ‘Can you put this all in writing?’

“By that point I took matters into my own hands, it was like, I needed to do this for my family.

“I’ve got to do something for my own mental health, my wife’s and for Archie’s as well.”

Meghan also sadly revealed she’d had dark thoughts while working for The Firm, telling Winfrey she hadn’t wanted to be “alive” anymore.

“I just didn’t want to be alive any more. And that was a very clear and real and frightening constant thought. And I remember how he [Harry] just cradled me,” she said.

When asked if she thought of harming herself or had suicidal thoughts, she said: “Yes. This was very, very clear, … and very scary.”
