Michael Schumacher’s wife makes emotional call

<p>Michael Schumacher’s family has made the difficult decision to auction off his personal collection of luxury watches ahead of the Italian Grand Prix on May 19. </p> <p>The F1 legend's wife Corinna is believed to have made the decision as she continues to care for him after his devastating skiing accident over 10 years ago. </p> <p>Corinna manages Schumacher's $970 million fortune, which is set to grow with the sale of Schumacher's eight most valuable watches, including a one-of-a-kind FP Journe Vagabondage 1 Model, which is expected to sell for between $1.7 million and $3.4 million.</p> <p>Auction house Christie’s will conduct the sale of the F1 legend's watch collection, which is believed to be worth roughly $6 million. </p> <p>“Christie’s expresses sincere thanks to the Schumacher family for their trust in us and their wish to share these masterpieces of horology with other passionate collectors around the globe,” Rémi Guillemin, Christie’s Head of Watches Europe and US, said. </p> <p>“We are proud to present these iconic and unique timepieces belonging to one of the most celebrated Formula 1 legends. An exceptional moment, for watch and F1 enthusiasts alike.</p> <p>“We are looking forward to meeting with passionate collectors during our international exhibitions and the auction on 13 May in Geneva.”</p> <p>One of the other watches going up for auction is an Audemars Piguet watch which features the Ferrari emblem, Schumacher’s helmet design, symbols representing his seven titles and an engraved message, which read: “Xmas 2004 — Jean Todt for my friend Michael Schumacher." </p> <p>The watch was given to him by Todt and is expected to sell for between $250,000 and $425,000. </p> <p>The auction is another financial move by Corinna, who reportedly meets with a small group of financial advisers about three or four times a year to make decisions about the family's sales and investments. </p> <p>Ever since the accident Corinna has also been protecting her husband's privacy, with no one outside of Schumacher's inner circle knowing what happened to the F1 legend. </p> <p><em style="box-sizing: inherit; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; border: 0px; font-size: 16px; vertical-align: baseline; color: #323338; font-family: Figtree, Roboto, 'Noto Sans Hebrew', 'Noto Kufi Arabic', 'Noto Sans JP', sans-serif; background-color: #ffffff; outline: none !important;">Image: Getty/ Christie's</em></p>

"I miss her hugs": British acting legend shares heartbreaking loss

<p>Actor Warwick Davis has shared the heartbreaking news of his wife's death. </p> <p>The actor, known for his roles in <em>Harry Potter</em> and <em>Star Wars</em>, took to social media to share the news of his wife Samantha's death, who passed away at the age of 53. </p> <p>“Her passing has left a huge hole in our lives as a family. I miss her hugs”, Warwick, 54, said.</p> <p>He added, “She was a unique character, always seeing the sunny side of life she had a wicked sense of humour and always laughed at my bad jokes.</p> <p>“Without Sammy, there would have been no Tenable quiz show, no Willow series. No Idiot Abroad Series 3.”</p> <p>Warwick said Samantha was his “most trusted confidant and an ardent supporter of everything I did in my career”.</p> <p>The couple’s children, Harrison and Annabelle, added, “Mum is our best friend and we’re honoured to have received a love like hers</p> <p>“Her love and happiness carried us through our whole lives”.</p> <p>Warwick and Samantha met on the set of the movie Willow in 1988 and got married three years later. </p> <p>Samantha had achondroplasia, a bone growth disorder that causes disproportionate dwarfism.</p> <p>Warwick has previously opened up about his wife’s health after she was rushed to hospital with sepsis in 2018, and had to undergo several different surgeries to stabilise her condition. </p> <p>Warwick, co-founder of charity Little People UK, has often spoken out about the health battles related to his condition, as well his wife’s.</p> <p>He was born with Spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia congenita (SED), an extremely rare genetic form of dwarfism, which has been inherited by both their daughter Annabelle and son Harrison.</p> <p><em>Image credits: Getty Images </em></p>

John Travolta's heartbreaking tribute years after losing wife and son

<p>John Travolta has shared a heartbreaking post commemorating his late wife, Kelly Preston, and son, Jett Travolta. </p> <p>Jett was only 16 when he passed away while on vacation with his family in the Bahamas in 2009. Husband and wife with dementia reunite after 30 years apart

Former world champion cyclist to face court over Olympian wife's death

<p>Rohan Dennis, the husband of former Olympic cyclist Melissa Hoskins, will face court after allegedly causing her death. </p> <p>Dennis, a former world champion cyclist, was arrested in January and charged with  causing death by dangerous driving, driving without due care and endangering life.</p> <p>It is alleged that he recklessly struck his wife with his car in front of their home in Medindie in Adelaide on December 30.</p> <p>Hoskins was rushed to the Royal Adelaide Hospital but died later that night. </p> <p>The pair share two children together, and Dennis is due to appear at the Adelaide Magistrates Court today.</p> <p>If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison. </p> <p>The Australian cycling community were devastated when news of Hoskins' death first broke. </p> <p>"Melissa described her team pursuit gold medal at the 2015 world championships as the highlight of her career but for the rest of us, the highlight was just having her around," AusCycling chief executive Marne Fechner said at the time.</p> <p>"Although she retired in 2017, her presence as an alumnus of the sport has been felt and appreciated by many in the cycling and riding community."</p> <p>Hoskins competed in the 2012 Summer Olympics as a member of the Australian track cycling team pursuit, that finished fourth place. </p> <p>She also competed at the 2016 Olympics for the same team, and was in the squad that won the 2015 world title in the event. </p> <p>The Olympian was laid to rest in her hometown, Perth, in January with a public memorial service held in Adelaide during what would've been her 33rd birthday a month later.</p> <p>Dennis, who has been on bail since January, attended both ceremonies. </p> <p><em>Images: Getty</em></p>

"She was everything": Beach Boys' Brian Wilson shares devastating news

<p>The Beach Boys singer-songwriter Brian Wilson has shared that his wife of nearly 30 years has passed away.</p> <p>The 81-year-old musician broke the news on Instagram on Wednesday morning, saying that his "heart is broken" after his wife Melinda Ledbetter Wilson died aged 77. </p> <p>"Melinda, my beloved wife of 28 years, passed away this morning. Our five children and I are just in tears. We are lost," he wrote in his post, underneath two pictures of his wife.</p> <p>"Melinda was more than my wife. She was my saviour. She gave me the emotional security I needed to have a career," he said.</p> <p>"She encouraged me to make the music that was closest to my heart. She was my anchor. She was everything for us. Please say a prayer for her. Christian Oliver's ex-wife shares devastating tribute following fatal plane crash

<p>The ex-wife of late actor Christian Oliver has broken her silence following a plane crash that killed the actor and their two young daughters, Madita Klepser, 10, and Annik Klepser, 12.</p> <p>Jessica Klepser took to Instagram to share a statement just days after the tragedy. </p> <p>"We are deeply saddened by the tragic plane accident on January 4, 2024, which took the lives of our beloved family members," <span style="font-family: -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, 'Segoe UI', Roboto, Oxygen, Ubuntu, Cantarell, 'Open Sans', 'Helvetica Neue', sans-serif;">she said in the post shared by Wundabar Pilates, the studio where she works.</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, 'Segoe UI', Roboto, Oxygen, Ubuntu, Cantarell, 'Open Sans', 'Helvetica Neue', sans-serif;">Klepser added that Oliver and their daughters were returning from a holiday in the Caribbean, when the </span>single-engine plane they were traveling in experienced engine trouble and fell into the ocean.</p> <p>"Unfortunately, all four passengers on the small aircraft did not survive," the statement continued. </p> <p>Klepser then went on to honour her two daughters. </p> <p>"Madita, a vibrant 7th-grade student at Louis Armstrong Middle School, was known for her lively spirit and excelled in academics, dance, singing, and performances. </p> <p>"Annik, a 4th-grade student at Wonderland Ave Elementary School, was recognized for her gentle yet strong demeanor. Bruce Willis' wife's devastating confession

<p>Bruce Willis' wife has shared a heartbreaking confession about caring for her husband as he continues to struggle with frontotemporal dementia. </p> <p>Emma Heming, who has been married to the A-list actor since 2009, shared a candid glimpse into her life as her husband's carer, admitting she often struggles with guilt. </p> <p>Willis was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia in early 2023, nearly one year after announcing his retirement from acting due to aphasia, which causes difficulties with speech. </p> <p>Since then, his family have frequently shared updates on his condition. </p> <p>Emma shared that since becoming a carer for her husband, she has been plagued with feelings of guilt. </p> <p>She told <span id="U831601814187TNF"><em>Sunday Paper</em>,</span> “I struggle with guilt, knowing that I have resources that others don’t."</p> <p>“When I’m able to get out for a hike to clear my head, it’s not lost on me that not all care partners can do that."</p> <p>“When what I share about our family’s journey gets press attention, I know that there are many thousands of untold, unheard stories, each of them deserving of compassion and concern.”</p> <p>Heming – who has daughters Mabel, 11, and Evelyn, nine, with Willis – went on to share that she hopes to continue to “be an advocate” for those also living her experience as a full-time carer. </p> <p>She added, “I see that what I share matters to others who may be struggling, and in a small way makes them feel seen and understood."</p> <p>“I want people to know that when I hear from another family affected by FTD, I hear our family’s same story of grief, loss, and immense sadness echoed in theirs…</p> <p>“It’s important to me to be an advocate on behalf of those families, who don’t have the time, energy, or resources to advocate for themselves.”</p> <p>Heming went on to add that despite her husband's condition continuing to deteriorate, she still has “hope” for Willis. </p> <p>She explained, “I have so much more hope today than I did after Bruce was first diagnosed."</p> <p>“I understand this disease more now, and I’m now connected to an incredible community of support. <p>Helena Carr, the wife of former foreign minister and NSW premier Bob Carr, has been bid an emotional farewell at Sydney's St Mary's Cathedral after passing away last month in Vienna.</p> <p>The 77-year-old lost consciousness due to a brain aneurysm while on a trip with her husband. In a tearful eulogy, Bob Carr shared the raw pain of losing his beloved wife of 50 years, known affectionately to him as "H".</p> <p>Reflecting on their enduring partnership, Carr acknowledged the acceptance that their time together was not infinite. He described the calmness and wisdom they found, emphasising the joy they took in each other's happiness.</p> <p>"We seemed to be at peace in our 50-year partnership," he said. "We accepted without admitting it that our time would not be forever. We were in a resting place that meant we were happy to see the other one happy. No partner could have smiled more than she did.</p> <p>"As we walked across Vienna having fun on that last day, that was where our 50-year journey had taken us: to a kind of calmness and wisdom where it ended so suddenly, so cruelly cut off.</p> <p>“We are such stuff that dreams are made of, and our light rounded off with a sleep. He emphasised her ability to connect with colleagues and her integral part in the human comedy that brought smiles to those around her.</p> <p>In a touching revelation, Carr recalled a moment in 1971 when his wife declared him her "lucky star" after watching a film. Radio host mourns passing of wife after 30-year marriage

<p>Queensland radio host Bill McDonald is mourning the loss of his wife following her "courageous battle" with cancer. </p> <p>He and Julianne had been married for 30-years before her tragic passing on Wednesday and share four sons together. </p> <p>Their eldest son, Jordan, shared the sad news on Facebook, with a heartbreaking photo of him holding his mother's hand on the hospital bed. </p> <p>“On behalf of the McDonald family, we are deeply saddened to share that Mum passed away early this morning after a courageous battle with cancer,” he wrote. </p> <p>“We love you and will miss you dearly.”</p> <p>McDonald took some time off his new role as Ray Hadley's Brisbane <em>4BC radio </em>replacement following the devastating news.</p> <p>His colleague Gary Hardgrave covered for him and broke the news to 4BC listeners. </p> <p>“Gary Hardgrave here in the chair this morning for Bill McDonald. "Best for us": Mark Beretta announces divorce

<p>Mark Beretta has announced that after 22 years of marriage, he and his wife Rachel are getting a divorce. </p> <p>The 57-year-old sports presenter confirmed the news of the separation to <a href="https://au.lifestyle.yahoo.com/sunrises-mark-beretta-splits-from-wife-of-22-years-best-for-us-224123607.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><em>Yahoo Lifestyle</em></a>, saying the split took a lot of "reflection". </p> <p>“At the start of the year, after a great deal of reflection and 22 years of marriage, Rach and I came to the conclusion that a separation was best for us,” he said.</p> <p>“We remain good friends, and our two children and grandchild remain our focus and priority as we move forward with love, dignity, and respect."</p> <p>Mark and Rachel first met in 1999 when their friends set them up on a blind date. </p> <p>They married two years later in 2001, and they share two teenage children, 19-year-old Ava and 16-year-old Dan, and one grandson, Arlo.</p> <p>The former couple sold their luxury home in Mosman, Sydney in May this year for $13 million, which was $2.5 million less than their initial asking price of $15.5 million.</p> <p>Earlier this year, Beretta opened up about balancing the pressures of his high-profile career with his family life.</p> <p>“Looking back, you think, I would have loved to spend more time at home, but life is what it is and you make the most of it,” he told <em><a href="https://www.nowtolove.com.au/parenting/family/mark-beretta-family-74582" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Now To Love</a></em>.</p> <p>“I love my job so much and I love being with the team. It’s just never on my radar to change careers or to not be part of Sunrise. It’s such a magical work opportunity.”</p> <p><em>Image credits: Seven / Getty Images </em></p>

"She broke my heart": Guy Sebastian opens up about secret split with Jules

<p>Guy Sebastian has opened up about his secret split with his wife Jules. </p> <p>The Aussie singer revealed that before his Australian Idol victory in 2003, the couple, originally from Adelaide, broke up after dating for a few years. </p> <p>After winning the first season of the competition singing show, the singer packed up his life and moved to Sydney to pursue his music career, but not before Jules “broke my heart”.</p> <p>“I didn’t think we would get back together,” Guy said on <a href="https://7news.com.au/sunrise/guy-sebastian-opens-up-about-secret-split-with-wife-jules-in-new-sunrise-interview-c-12028365" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><em>Sunrise</em></a> on Wednesday.</p> <p>“I was 18 when we first got together and I think I was 21 (when we broke up) and she kind of broke my heart."</p> <p>“She broke up with me and then Idol happened and I moved to Sydney and I didn’t think we’d get back together, I wasn’t sure."</p> <p>“But you live a little bit of life then you realise, ‘Oh, my gosh, I had so much history, she always loved me for me.’"</p> <p>“She’s always been the same.”</p> <p>The 41-year-old musician revealed that he is the only boyfriend his wife has ever had. </p> <p>“That’s always a positive when she hasn’t got some other beautiful Latin lover or something to compare me to."</p> <p>Guy went on to say there was something special about knowing “each other’s childhood and where you both came from”.</p> <p>“I think she’s very loving, very smart and emotionally intelligent and so there’s so much that I lack where... I might blow up over something and it’s always Jules who is my calming force that will help me see things a bit more clearly.</p> <p>“And me, her as well. I think we balance each other out well. Dying husband and wife spend their final days holding hands

<p>A married couple have spent their final days holding hands in hospital, after their beds were pushed next to each other so they could be side-by-side as they both passed away. </p> <p>The couple from Tennessee, Tommy and Virginia Stevens, both 91, were both admitted to the Vanderbilt hospital for unrelated medical issues. </p> <p>Tommy, who was suffering with Alzheimer’s disease, had been struck down with aspiration pneumonia and sepsis, and was transferred to the hospital's palliative care unit. </p> <p>The same morning, Virginia suffered a fall as she sustained six broken ribs, a spinal fracture, and a hip injury, and was admitted to the hospital's trauma unit. </p> <p>As Tommy and Virginia's family were struggling to split time between the two wards, hospital staff were able to pull strings for the longtime lovebirds to be roomed side-by-side.</p> <p>Virginia was moved into a room near Tommy’s in the Palliative Care Unit, and her hospital bed was scooted against his so she could comfort him as his health continued to get worse, the hospital said.</p> <p>“He was awake when she came in,” their daughter Karen Kreager said.</p> <p>“His eyes were open. He wasn’t communicating a lot — just in small whispers. But he knew that she was there and that she was going to be right beside him. They haven’t stopped holding hands the whole time. She won’t let go of him.” </p> <p>“It reminds me of why we do this work,” Mohana Karlekar, MD, medical director of VUMC’s adult Palliative Care Program told local news station <em><a href="https://www.wsmv.com/2023/09/19/she-wont-let-go-him-vanderbilt-helps-hospitalized-wife-comfort-dying-husband/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">WSMV</a></em>.</p> <p>“We take care of people — husbands, wives, mothers, fathers — not patients. We brought this family together during one of their most difficult times with little effort on our part. It involved a call, seeing an extra patient that day and some conversations.”</p> <p>“From the time we brought Mrs. Stevens over, she held her husband’s hand and fussed in a very loving way with him,” Karlekar said.</p> <p>“She was able to tell me Monday that she was at peace with what was going on, and she wanted to be there until the end.”</p> <p>Tommy died on September 8th, just a day before the couple’s 69th anniversary, and Virginia died a few days later on September 17th.</p> <p><em>Image credits: Vanderbilt University Medical Center and The Stevens Family</em></p>

Body language expert analyses Hugh Jackman's last public outings with his wife

<p>A body language expert has analysed the last public outings of Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness before they <a href="https://www.oversixty.com.au/lifestyle/relationships/hugh-jackman-devastated-after-marriage-split" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced their split</a> after 27 years of marriage. </p> <p>The couple were spotted at both the Met Gala in New York and Wimbledon in the UK earlier this year, seemingly looking like a perfect loved-up couple. </p> <p>However, Aussie body language expert Louise Mahler said there could be more than meets the eye at their public outings. </p> <p>“These are two people so well rehearsed at being with each other. They lean in together, they move in unison,” Mahler told <a href="https://7news.com.au/entertainment" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-link-type="article-inline"><em>7Life</em>.</a></p> <p>Assessing footage from their joint appearance at the Met Gala in May 2023, Mahler noticed that “at one point in the video Hugh goes to walk away and she briefly pulls him back and he stops with no hesitation”.</p> <p>“There is no giveaway whatsoever... and remember, they are both actors."</p> <p>“They are working as a team and showing total harmony.”</p> <p>However, Mahler went on to assess a specific moment from the Met Gala where the couple were gazing at one another head-on.</p> <p>“I’m going to speculate that he has left her because he’s looking at her quickly,” she said.</p> <p>“He still loves her but he’s moving on."</p> <p>“And what I see from her is, ‘I get that you’re moving on, you b******, but I will allow this’,” Mahler speculated about Furness’ body language.</p> <p>Two months after their Met Gala appearance, the couple attended Wimbledon to sit side by side and watch the game. </p> <p>Mahler acknowledged that they looked “a little cranky” but said that they were concentrated on the game and likely had cameras on them “for a long time”.</p> <p>“I don’t see that they’re pulling away from each other in any way,” she said.</p> <p>“In fact, their arms are touching the full length. This is a couple who have been together for 30 years, they know each other. I would say they still love each other, but they’re deciding to go their separate ways.”</p> <p>The Hollywood couple shocked the world on Saturday when they released a statement confirming their separation after being married for 27 years.</p> <p>“We have been blessed to share almost three decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage,” Jackman and Furness told <em><a href="https://people.com/hugh-jackman-and-deborra-lee-jackman-separate-exclusive-7970286" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-link-type="article-inline">People</a></em>.</p> <p>“Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth."</p> <p><em>Image credits: Getty Images</em></p>

Man charged after wife and baby found dead

<p>A man has been charged with the murder of his wife and newborn baby after their bodies were found in their home in Central Queensland. </p> <p>Police were called to the residence in Rockhampton on Thursday morning, where they found the bodies of 30-year-old Tayla Cox and her 11-week-old baby girl, Murphy Margaret Cox.</p> <p>Matthew Cox allegedly presented at Fortitude Valley police station in Brisbane, and was later charged with two counts of murder.</p> <p>The 31-year-old man is set to face court tomorrow. </p> <p>Detective Inspector Darrin Shadlow said it was a "confronting scene" for first responders, while also dispelling claims there was a firearm used in the alleged crime.</p> <p>Early reports from police believe Ms Cox and her newborn daughter died on Tuesday before Mr Cox flew from Rockhampton the same night to Brisbane "after allegedly committing the offences".</p> <p>Police have commenced their investigation into the incident, as a car was seized by officers at Rockhampton Airport and is undergoing forensic examination.</p> <p>A crime scene was established at the Rockhampton home while a second crime scene was also established at an apartment in Fortitude Valley, where police believe the man was staying.</p> <p>Inspector Shadlow said the family of Ms Cox and her baby have been notified and they are "devastated".</p> <p><em>Image credits: Facebook</em></p>

Love Actually child star engaged to Elon Musk's ex-wife

<p dir="ltr">Actress Talulah Riley has announced that she is engaged to former child star Thomas Brodie-Sangster after two years together.</p> <p dir="ltr">She revealed the news in a tweet with a photo of the couple cuddled up under a blanket and the caption: "Very happy to share that after two years of dating, Thomas Brodie-Sangster and I are engaged!"</p> <p dir="ltr">The <em>Pride and Prejudice</em> actress, 37,  and the <em>Love Actually </em>star, 33, first met during the filming of their TV series <em>Pistol </em>where they also played a couple. </p> <p>Twitter and Tesla CEO Elon Musk responded to his ex-wife's happy news with a simple: "Congratulations!"</p> <p>Elon's sister Tosca also replied with "Congratulations, Talulah" and a red heart emoji. </p> <p>Fans took to the comments on Twitter to congratulate the couple. </p> <p>"Congratulations! I wish the couple much happiness," wrote one fan. </p> <p>"Love conquers all. When you find love, hold on to it and never let it go. Very good news," wrote another. </p> <p>"Congratulations. Happy for you!" commented a third. </p> <p>"Congratulations, great couple!" wrote a fourth with two red heart emojis. </p> <p>The couple were rumoured to be together in 2021, but they didn't confirm their relationship until the following when they arrived arm-in-arm at the Gala Dinner for the 2022 <em>British Academy Film Awards</em>. </p> <p>Riley was previously married to Elon Musk, 52, twice before her relationship with Brodie-Sangster. </p> <p>Their first marriage was in 2010 after a 10-day whirlwind romance, which lasted for two years.
