4 of the weirdest TV cameos ever

While some television show cameos are great, funning and exciting then there are those that are just awkward and quite frankly, complete doozies. These are four of the weirdest TV cameos that come to mind.

1. Britney Spears on Sabrina

Britney Spears’s cameo came right at the end of the ABC’s Sabrina when Britney Spears was summoned by Sabrina’s dad, Edward Spellman (Doug Sheehan), to sing her third US top ten hit, “(You Drive Me) Crazy”.

2. Matt Lucas and David Walliams (as their Little Britain characters Lou and Andy) on Neighbours

The Little Britain characters made their soap debut Down Under in an episode of Neighbours. The duo, played by Matt Lucas and David Walliams, turn up in ScarletBar and get aquainted with Ramsay Street regular, Harold Bishop.

3. Stephen Hawking on Big Bang Theory

In this Big Bang Theory episode, Hawking joyously puts Jim Parsons’ Sheldon Cooper in his place. Hawking was referenced in the very first episode of the show, too, where characters Howard and Rajesh geek out over footage of a young Hawking. Helberg also does a Hawking impression in this episode while Stephen is in the room.

4. Ian McKellen on Coronation Street

With the likes of Cliff Richards, Prince Charles, Cheryl Cole and Status Quo, Ian McKellen appears in five episodes over the course of a week.

We said nothing!

Nush Borowicz - Moved all my furniture around as they didn’t like the way I had it…. Then proceeded to tell me I had no idea. Hated the was they did it.

Michele Price - Put her jewellery under mattress, then forgot about doing that & reported stolen to police.

Finally remembering couple days later. Made us feel uncomfortable was glad for her to go!

Donna Dale - Laid out 6 large knives on his bedside table.

Cora Knapp Murray - Hung up a permanent hook on the back of the bathroom door without asking.

Katherine Harwood Everett - Removed artwork from my family room and put something else in its place. They ran a bath and sat in it all night long. Used up all the hot water for that day and used nearly ever towel on my linen press.

This was just one person. That was the 1st and last time they stayed in my house.

Reba Overton Smith - Gone through all my drawers in my bedroom and...hopped in bed with my husband when I was away.

Jennifer Puppa - Friend had relatives that ate a roast chicken in bed. Also took the new bed sheets with them.

Christine King - Washed their dog in my shower.

Sue Hickman Buckley - Filed their crusty feet at the dining room table.

Anna Little - Ripped off the wallpaper in my dining room while we were having a dinner party.

The weirdest things dogs have eaten according to pet insurance claims

Why would a dog to burrow into the rubbish bin, find a disposable razor blade head and eat it?

We'll never know, but that's exactly what a trendy retrodoodle (golden retriever crossed with miniature poodle) did before expensive surgery fixed the problem.

The latest list of head-scratching behaviour behind claims received by Southern Cross Pet Insurance reveals many modern dogs are struggling to work out what is food and what isn't.

Southern Cross Pet Insurance head Anthony McPhail says another recent case saw a German shepherd eat a duvet cover and the inner stuffing, which unsurprisingly caused an intestinal blockage.

Other odd meals included a latex rubber glove, also retrieved from the rubbish, eaten by a fox terrier, and a Labrador that feasted on 100 cotton buds and their plastic packaging, before eating a pair of undies for dessert.

A miniature poodle also fancied clothing and downed a pair of knee-high pantyhose stockings.

It gets odder. There's the border collie that ate the metal teeth of a hairbrush and regretted it. Also full of regret was a great Dane which chewed on a Ventolin inhaler. This exploded in its mouth, causing a rapid heart rate and mouth bruising.

A bottle dummy teat "incident" shows how expensive strange meals can be. The cavoodle (cavalier King Charles spaniel and poodle) needed surgery and cutting open to get the teat out of its stomach. This cost $2900.

While it's much rarer for cats to be caught out eating crazy things, a few did join the dogs.

A ragdoll cat dined out on nail painting toe separators, while a domestic short-haired cat was taken to the vet who removed a Whiskas soft food sachet and human hair from her stomach.

Written by Ewan Sargent. Weirdest things passengers try to take on a plane

Packing for a holiday can sometimes turn out to be a stressful process as you frantically make sure you have everything on your list before you leave.

Not to mention the fear that your luggage could exceed your weight restriction. However, the problems you have encountered with your luggage are slight compared to the wacky items these passengers tried to get through customs.

Research by Virgin Atlantic has revealed the weirdest things passengers have attempted to check-in on flights, here are some of the strangest ones.

1. Live fish

A passenger on a flight to Barbados attempted to check-in four live goldfish in a plastic bag filled with water.

2. A fridge

At Nevada airport, someone tried to check-in an entire fridge freezer. Perhaps they still had leftovers?

3. Car parts

Tyres are actually a common discovery in people’s luggage, especially on flights from Lagos. A passenger also tried to fly a car bumper from London Heathrow.

4. Bed head

On a flight from Delhi, a group of travellers attempted to check-in the headboard of a bed. The survey also found that brooms are a popular check in item in that region.

5. Bathtub

A passenger wanted to check-in a full-size bathtub for a flight from London to Johannesburg.

6. A whole dead cow

A traveller attempted to check-in a butchered cow wrapped up in bubble wrap. The weirdest thing that happened to me overseas

Everyone has a crazy story about their adventures overseas. Cows on a plane? A kidnapping before your eyes? A naked receptionist? Yes, apparently, these did happen.

A Stuff travel story inspired readers to share their experiences and, boy, some of the tales have been quite stupendous.

Here are 10 of the more disturbing ones:

1. Lost in Translation

There are about 6500 languages spoken in the world, so chances are you'll eventually land in a country where you won't understand a word. Learning a new language while travelling can be an exciting, yet challenging experience. But what about learning new English? Believe it or not, a reader was once asked by an American if Australians spoke American. Howdy, you bet!

2. Scary encounter

It doesn't matter where you are in the world, when you drive through McDonald's you will always find the usual suspects. A Big Mac, a McChicken - and a kidnapping? In Manila, about 20 years ago, a hungry reader began to order his burger when he saw a man with a gun pointed at a lady's back. The gunman ordered her to cross the carpark towards a waiting car. Scary.

3. When cows can fly

Planes are tight, sometimes smelly places as hundreds of people are crammed together. Add cows to the mix and you're set for an interesting flight. Flying between Indonesia and Malaysia, a reader was surprised to find his booked seat missing. He said the seats were removed from the plane to make room for some cows. During landing the passengers had to pick up their belongings from the floor as the cows' waste moved towards them.

4. The perfect crime

When planning a trip, you always hear warnings about muggings and the new tricks of the trade. What you may not be prepared for is police committing the crime. A reader got mugged in Kyrgyzstan by police - three times within 30 minutes.

5. Riding a camel

There is nothing wrong with seeing a mini-truck carrying two camels on the back. There is something wrong with two camels, dragging a mini-truck however. While in Saudi Arabia, a reader saw a truck driver take a corner too fast, tipping over the camels. The animals managed to get up and started pulling the truck down the road. The surprised driver popped his head out of the window and started shouting for help.

6. Toilet

It can be hard to find a toilet while travelling, and sometimes you will have no choice other than to hold it in (sometimes for hours). Thus it can be shocking when the locals are quite care free. While in Poland, one reader spotted a 5-year-old peeing on a tree. That's nothing. Then they see a well-dressed mother help a little girl poo and wee nearby. She wiped the child with one tissue, left it on the ground, and walked away.

7. Train delay

Transportation can be unreliable when travelling, particularly in countries with poor infrastructure. The train may be an hour, maybe two or three hours late. One reader found out it can be a lot later than that. When a train in India arrived up to 5 hours behind schedule, the reader was kicked out of their seat. Turns out they had the wrong ticket as they were on "yesterday's train". Yup, it was 24 hours late.

8. Nudist’s hotel

Looking for the perfect hotel can take a bit of work. You can check out the reviews on Travel Advisor, check out their website and hopefully you're done. But you should always be prepared for surprises, and not only of the bed-mites and cockroaches variety. One reader booked a hotel for New York through a travel agent, turned up and found the receptionist naked. They were informed clothes were optional at the hotel.

9. Complicated codes

LHR, JFK and SYD are airport codes easy to decipher - London's Heathrow, New York's John F Kennedy and Sydney's Kingsford Smith. But what about KAT and KTM? It was a bit too confusing for two American travellers. A reader working at Auckland Airport said he was approached by the girls who were trying to catch an Air New Zealand flight to Kathmandu (KTM). New Zealand doesn't have direct flights to Nepal. Turns out the girls' travel agent booked tickets for Kaitaia (KAT) without checking.

10. Conference pain

A tent, check. A sleeping bag, check. A leather whip, check. You'll always find people from all walks of life at a campground. One reader who worked in America came across 500 people at a sadomasochism conference. It was a "weird" few days, he said.

What’s the oddest thing that’s ever happened to you overseas?

Written by Paloma Migone. 11 weirdest museums in the world

While museums aren’t everybody’s cup of tea, odds are when you’re travelling you’re going to visit one.

Here are 11 of the world’s weirdest museums.

We’ve included images of the museums in the gallery above, in case any pique your interest.

1. Avanos Hair Museum, Turkey

One of the big points of interest in the rural Turkish town of Avanos, the Avanos Hair Museum may well just be a creepy excuse to collect human hair. It’s a huge collection though, with over 16,000 pieces!

2. Baku Museum of Miniature Books, Azerbaijan

A must-stop next time you find yourself in Azerbaijan. The Baku Museum of Miniature Books is dedicated to books of the tiny variety (yet seemingly not small enough to warrant a museum).

3. Cumberland Pencil Museum, UK

Fans of stationary rejoice! Home of the world’s largest colouring pencil (7.91 metres high), the Cumberland Pencil Museum is the Mecca for people who never got their pen license.

4. Icelandic Phallological Museum, Iceland

Maybe not a great option for the whole family (unless you’re giving your grandkids the birds and bees talk), but with 215 phallic objects on display there’s definitely plenty to see!

5. The Kansas Barbed Wire Museum, USA

It may seem weird to have an entire museum dedicated to barbed wire, but with more than 2,400 varieties of the stuff on display it may be worth a visit. It goes without saying you’re not allowed to touch the exhibits.

6. Meguro Parasitological Museum, Japan

If you’ve ever wondered about tapeworms, head lice and other parasites you’ve never heard off perhaps a visit to the Meguro Parasitological Museum. We recommend going on an empty stomach!

7. Momofuku Ando Instant Ramen Museum, Japan

If you’ve always felt the National Museum of Australia lacked a sufficient Two Minute Noodle exhibit you might like Japan’s Momofuku Ando Instant Ramen Museum, dedicated to these instant snacks!

8. Museum of Bad Art, USA

“Why see a classic, when I can observe some bad art?” is a question the owners of the Museum of Bad Art are banking on patrons asking. This is one museum where if you see an exhibit and you feel like you could’ve painted it yourself, you’re probably right.

9. The Museum of Broken Relationships, Croatia

An interesting place, but if you’re looking for a museum to take a date to, you might be better off with the International Museum of Toilets. A wooden watermelon is among the odd exhibits.

10. Museum of Medieval Torture Instruments, Netherlands

With more than 100 torture devices on display, this is one museum where you don’t want to get caught out for touching one of the exhibits. Gruesome sure, but an interesting look at history.

11. Sulabh International Museum of Toilets, India

Well, you can’t spend you whole trip looking at the Taj Mahal. A visit to the International Museum of Toilets raises sanitary awareness, and questions regarding your itinerary planning ability.

Related links:

5 tips for making affordable calls overseas

10 tips for sleeping on a plane

Surge in 10-year passport applications expected

One of the world’s weirdest fish has been captured making a rare appearance

Photographer Daniel Botelho has captured images of the unusual Mola Mola fish as it surfaced in California. The sight is a rare one as the fish live in deep water and only surface occasionally to be cleaned by other fish and birds.

The Mola Mola, or sunfish, is the largest known bony fish in the world, and weigh, on average, around 1,000 kilograms. The largest specimens can reach up to 14 feet vertically, and 10 feet horizontally. Their relatively small mouth cannot fully close, and their teeth are fused into a beak-like structure.

Botelho says that despite their intimidating size and shape, the fish are quite gentle, with one following him around in the water as a dog might follow its owner.

Related links:

Watch these two koalas in a sumo-wrestling match

This Tasmanian sea eagle has been released into the wild after 9 weeks of rehab

Is this the largest freshwater fish ever caught?
